NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis recently appeared on the Eat Sleep Suplex Retweet podcast where he discussed his tenure in the promotion and his current contract details. Aldis also opened up about what prevented him from joining All Elite Wrestling.

His NWA contract

Nick Aldis is one of the top-tier performers in the National Wrestling Alliance, which is why he holds the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He has been a mainstay of the promotion since 2017, but Aldis didn't hesitate to disclose whether he was an independent performer working with NWA or a salaried employee.

I have an agreement with Lightning One, who is the parent company of the NWA. So, I get a salary and I don't think its any secret at this point, you know, obviously not that I have any say in decisions or that side of things is concerned, but I wear a lot of hats as far as helping shape this company - this brand.

Nick Aldis added that he has enjoyed his tenure in NWA, and that he's had a working deal with the company since last year's All In pay-per-view

That agreement has been in place since around All In. We made an actual agreement and we have been working with that ever since.

AEW offers

The former Impact World Champion also clarified why he didn't join All Elite Wrestling when the company offered him a contract earlier this year.

I didn't turn them down. I just didn't want to stop doing the NWA and that was kind of like the condition - if you work for us, you're just gonna work for us and not them.

Aldis also highlighted how not every wrestler can achieve a top spot in a promotion. He added that if a wrestler were to jump ship and try out their luck in another company, they shouldn't be criticized in response.
