Rebooking an alternative WrestleMania 30 where CM Punk was still in the WWE

How would have WrestleMania 30 gone down if CM Punk was still there...

Most of us may have our own opinions on CM Punk. Some think that he's a traitor who left his fans behind for money whereas another set of fans respect his decisions and continue to support him to this day.

Some fans even call him a hypocrite for stealing other deserving athletes' place in the UFC, when, not more than about five years ago, he ranted about the exact same thing happening to him in the WWE.

Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.

But one thing that everyone will agree unanimously is the impact he left behind in not only the WWE but in the whole business.

Many fans still proclaim that it was that infamous promo in Las Vegas (the pipebomb) that got them back to wrestling. He paved the way for guys like Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens(to name a few) to succeed in the WWE, guys who were hitherto frowned upon as 'indie guys'. Fans still chanting 'CM Punk', four years after his departure is a testimony to the impact that he has left behind and that fans still clamour for a return.

Many fans fantasy book his return to the WWE, coming up with exiting scenarios and dream matches against AJ Styles and dream feuds against Kevin Owens.

But what if he hadn't left the WWE. We know that his departure had a lot of consequences, especially on that year's Wrestlemania.

So, me being the imaginative person that I am(putting myself over) decided to come up with an alternative card to Wrestlemania 30 where CM Punk was still in the WWE.

Note:

This is purely a work of my imagination and not something that was written after reading the original plans of Wrestlemania 30.

In this alternative reality, things unfold as they did, until Royal Rumble 2014.

Match #1: Triple H vs Daniel Bryan (Winner goes on to face the WWE Champion in the main event for the title)

WrestleMania 30 Press Conference

Let's start with a match that actually happened.

Face it. This match should happen. It was the perfect story. The underdog being put down as 'B plus player', by authority, with the former rising against the latter and proving everyone wrong, by defeating the actual authority.

The build to this would mostly be the same. The difference is that Daniel Bryan beats Bray Wyatt at the Royal Rumble and actually wins the Royal Rumble Match while the authority are busy screwing CM Punk.

The next night on Raw, the authority uses their power and declares the result of the Rumble match as void. They, however, give Daniel Bryan and CM Punk another shot at the title at the Elimination Chamber PPV. At that event, the authority once again screws over Daniel Bryan at the title and assisting the eventual winner (which I will get to later).

The events after this would pretty much unfold the same way it did, with Bryan challenging Triple H to a match and the 'occupy Raw' segment occurring as well.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

This is a match that many fans agree should have happened at WrestleMania instead of Elimination Chamber.

This kind of a match does not need much of a build. Just two upcoming factions fighting for what they believe as justice.

For the Shield, this is much better than what they actually got at the event, where they faced off against three people at the end of their careers.

While this match may not be heavily promoted as one of the main matches on this card, it most certainly would be a perfect showcase of the future and a possible show stealer.

Winner: The Shield

Match #3: CM Punk (c) vs Randy Orton for the WWE Championship (where the winner will defend the title in the main event)

WrestleMania XXVII

The build for this match is a part of the build for the opening match (as well as the main event).

At the elimination chamber, Daniel Bryan eliminates Randy Orton and hence are guaranteed to have a new Champion crowned. The final two remaining are CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Just as the two are ready to fight, the authority enters the chamber and assault Bryan.

Just when they seem to assault Punk as well, the authority and Punk both exchange smiles. The authority picks up the unconscious body of Bryan and places it on Punk's waiting shoulders. Punk hits a GTS, pins Bryan and is the new handpicked champion of the Authority.

The next night on Raw, The authority reveal that they made an agreement with Punk right before the chamber match to reconcile their past differences and to allow him to become the new WWE champion because they would rather prefer him as Champion over Daniel Bryan.

CM Punk walks out and proclaims that he still does not like Triple H and the authority and he still considers Daniel Bryan as a friend and that he just did what any other man in his position would have done and that is to take advantage of an opportunity. He says that he accepted to work with the authority as it was mutually beneficial and that it was 'best for business'.

Out comes Randy Orton. He asks Triple H that if Punk is their handpicked Champion then what about him. Triple H replies that while they still consider Randy Orton as a top guy, they just couldn't trust him with Bryan (citing the previous night as an example). Triple H then grants him the opportunity to prove him wrong by granting his rematch clause against Punk for the title in the main event of Wrestlemania.

The match is then moved down the card due to Bryan's actions(explained in the build to the first match).

Winner: Still the WWE Champion, CM Punk

Match #4: Brock Lesnar vs Batista

A dream match that still hasn't happened yet, this match is a perfect contender for mainstream appeal at the showcase of the immortals.

The build to this match must be simple. Just two hard-hitting heavyweights out there inside the squared circle to prove that they are the best legit fighters around. Paul Heyman can bring up the two's history in OVW for the classic, both started from the same place kind of story.

As for the match, this should be a complete squash in favour of Lesnar, because originally they had Lesnar break the streak for building him up as a serious threat. While this might not be as big of a deal as breaking the streak, it would suffice as Brock is a legit fighter and he does not need to break the streak to build him up as a threat.

Winner: Brock Lesnar

Match #5: Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Every card needs some sort of filler match to rest the crowd and warm up for the upcoming matches.

A battle royal seems a perfect fit for a filler match on a Wrestlemania. Superstars who do not get a match are featured, and most probably nothing important goes on during these matches.

I'm gonna go with the same build and result as it actually happened.

Winner: Cesaro

Match #6: The Undertaker vs John Cena

Undertaker vs John Cena is a pure dream match that no can screw up (wink wink).

The reason the build and the match felt lacklustre this year is because Undertaker did not have his streak and John Cena, well wasn't 'Super Cena' anymore.

But in 2014 both these things were still in existence and had the potential to be THE marquee match. And that is what I'm going to book because who doesn't love marquee matches at Wrestlemania.

I' will go with the Undertaker as the winner simply because I feel that the streak should have been lost to an up comer.

Winner: The Undertaker

Match #7: Aj Lee (c) open challenge for the Divas Title answered by Paige

This match happened one night later at the Raw after 'Mania, so we might as well have things go down exactly the way it did, just a night earlier.

This match should not be advertised beforehand. AJ Lee can come out and rant about how she feels it is insane that the Divas Champion does not have a match at WrestleMania, and how she is not given the respect that she deserves. She can then go on to issue an impromptu open challenge.

Paige could not have dreamed of a better debut. What better than announcing your arrival at the grandest stage and winning a championship.

Winner: New Divas Champion, Paige

Match #8: CM Punk (c) vs Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship

This is it. The main event. The main event that Punk rightfully deserved. The main event that Bryan deserved. And most importantly, the main event that the fans deserved.

If this would have been the plan, Punk would have stayed with the WWE. An opportunity to steal the show in the main event with his longtime friend and rival, The American Dragon/Bryan Danielson/Danial Bryan, and to give him the rub when he was at the peak of his popularity.

Just imagine the promo package that WWE could come up for this match. Their packages make lacklustre feuds seem must-see. Given these two's history together, they would have had a field day. JUST IMAGINE!

Give these two more than 20 minutes and you have the potential for the best ever WrestleMania main event.

The winner, of course, has to be Bryan with the fade to black of him hoisting the title with resounding 'Yes' chants.

Iti is just sad, that WWE did not give Punk his deserving WrestleMania main event, which was eventually one of the main reasons he left the company in the first place.
