Who will win the Eye for an Eye match at the WWE Extreme Rules PPV later tonight?

WWE Extreme Rules will take place later tonight from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Five titles will be on the line including Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against former tag-team partner, Dolph Ziggler. We also have the non-title Swamp Fight between Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt.

Also on the card is the "Eye for an Eye" match between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio where the winner will have to remove the eye of his opponent. How will WWE do this? We take a look at details for the Eye for an Eye match and a whole lot more.

#5 WWE could use real reptiles for the Swamp Fight

Bray Wyatt will face Braun Strowman at Extreme Rules in a Swamp Fight. The match will be done in the cinematic style which WWE has favoured for some of their big matches recently.

Thanks to WrestlingInc, we've had more details about the Swamp Fight at Extreme Rules. The match is expected to last between 20 to 30 minutes. The report also said that the match was shot at a location two hours out of Orlando and the whole thing took around seven hours to film. Another interesting detail on the report revealed that WWE had used real reptiles during the filming including an alligator as well as a snake at Extreme Rules.

The report also said the finish would have a kidnapping angle, similar to Friday The 13th. Bray Wyatt was also heavily involved in the match and had a lot of ideas regarding things that could be done.

Interestingly, the report says Vince McMahon has not been involved in this match.

#4 More details on Eye for an Eye match

Will WWE use CGI for the finish of the Eye for an Eye match?
Will WWE use CGI for the finish of the Eye for an Eye match?

Seth Rollins rammed Rey Mysterio's eye into the steel steps a few weeks ago on RAW, which led to the Eye for an Eye match set to take place at Extreme Rules later tonight. The stipulation going in says that a Superstar can only win after he 'removes the eye of the other'.

According to reports, this part will be shown with the help of CGI at Extreme Rules. This was reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer said that CGI would be used 'to simulate an eye being pulled out as the finish'. As we reported earlier, Rey Mysterio's WWE contract has expired. Mysterio was originally expected to be written off television following Rollins' attack on RAW. However, plans changed and WWE will probably use this match at Extreme Rules to write him off in storyline instead if he hasn't renewed his contract.

Meltzer added that if Mystero does renew his contract, we could see the Master Of The 619 winning the match.

#3 Backstage reason why Jeff Hardy won't face Sheamus at Extreme Rules

Jeff Hardy and Sheamus' match will take place on SmackDown
Jeff Hardy and Sheamus' match will take place on SmackDown

Sheamus and Jeff Hardy were originally supposed to face each other at WWE Extreme Rules. This was expected to be announced on SmackDown earlier this week but it looks like the match has been pushed back to next week's SmackDown instead. Although the match was never officially announced to be a part of Extreme Rules, it was widely speculated that the match would be added to the PPV. Hardy versus Sheamus will be a rematch from their match at the Backlash PPV.

Why won't Hardy vs Sheamus take place at the Extreme Rules PPV? According to backstage reports, WWE have decided to push back the 'Bar Fight' between Hardy and Sheamus to SmackDown next week in an effort to combat flagging ratings.

Although this hasn't been confirmed, ratings are also said to be the reason why WWE decided to have Randy Orton face the Big Show in an unsanctioned match on RAW this coming Monday instead of at Extreme Rules.

#2 Matches could be on the longer side

Matches at Extreme Rules could be longer than usual
Matches at Extreme Rules could be longer than usual

WWE has had to adjust to COVID-19 in a number of ways, including holding shows at the Performance Center as well as having to run shows behind closed doors. Another recent change they have made is having longer matches on their shows and we could see that at Extreme Rules.

According to Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue, the reason behind this is that they have fewer Superstars available right now because of the ongoing circumstances. On a recent episode of Dropkick DiSKussions, Tom said that we could expect to see longer matches at the Extreme Rules PPV as well:

There has been a mandate from the WWE management recently to have longer matches. A large part of this is down to the fact that they don't have as many people as they normally would, so they have to stretch things out a little bit. It worked out, I think about a week and a half ago on SmackDown, where they just hit all the different divisions, one match for each one and it really helped keep things hyped up, but obviously, they have lost a few more people since then. RAW this week was very much built around that as well. So for Extreme Rules, the same rule applies.
