Top 10 greatest WWE catchphrases of all time

The master of all catchphrases

Over the years there have been some amazing mic workers come and go from WWE. The likes of The Rock, Paul Heyman and Stone Cold Steve Austin all know how to evoke a strong reaction from the audience. They have all also left us with many memorable catchphrases that are still living on today.

Let’s take a now at 10 of the greatest catchphrases in WWE history.

10. Oh yeah (Randy Savage)

Ooohh yeeah!

The Macho Man Randy Savage was a very accomplished mic worker especially for his time. His most famous catchphrase was obviously the drawn out ‘Oooohh yeeeeahh!’.

The legacy of Randy Savage, who as inducted into the hall of fame last year, will live on forever and his ‘Oh yeah’ catchphrase will always leave a lasting impression.

No true WWE or pro wrestling fan in general can say they’ve never tried impersonating the macho man’s ‘Oooooohh yeeeeeeaaahh!’.

9. Tell me he didn’t just (Booker T)

Tell me he didn’t just say that..

Booker T was actually quite an enigmatic and entertaining individual. His many memorable quotes also put a smile on fans faces such as announcement of being a ‘five time, five time, five time, five time, five time, world champion’.

Specifically the shocking expressions on his face that accompanied his questioning proclamation ‘Tell me, he didn’t just say that’ in regards to some strange situation. Over time we have also seen some just as humorous variations.

8. Yes! Yes! Yes! (Daniel Bryan)

The Yes Movement will live on forever

One of the newest catchphrases/chants that has already cemented itself as one of the greatest of all time. The Yes Chants have already, in their relatively short existence, propelled Daniel Bryan into superstardom helping him win the WWE World Heavyweight championship.

The Yes chants are also now being used in other circumstances not involving Daniel Bryan, proving that they will likely live on forever like the ‘What’ chants.

Unfortunately though, Bryan’s career may not live on much longer but hopefully it will. If not though, rest assured that the Yes movement will.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

7. It doesn’t matter (The Rock)

It doesn’t matter what you think

Similar to Booker’s ‘tell me didn’t just’, The Rocks ‘it doesn’t matter what you think’ were just as hilarious and always seemed to take an audience by surprise. The Rock also adopted various different variations as his career moved on.

The Rock is a unique individual who oozed charisma and this entire list could have probably been filled with Rock quotes.

6. What ‘cha gonna do, brother (Hulk Hogan)

What ‘cha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you

Perhaps one of the most well-known and defining catchphrases that helped catapult Hulk Hogan and WWE into the future.

Hulk Hogan may not be the greatest pro wrestler ever but he is arguably the biggest mega star that WWE has ever had. His ‘What ‘cha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you’ catchphrase has left a lasting impression on the minds of most WWE fans.

5. Ladies and Gentleman, my name is… (Paul Heyman)

Ladies and gentleman, my name is Paul Heyman

Like him or not, Paul Heyman is not only a genius wrestling mastermind but also a top tier mic worker. Only a star the calibre of Paul Heyman could truly captivate an audience’s devoted attention with mere words.

His self-introduction catchphrase ‘Ladies and gentleman, my name is Paul Heyman’ is compelling enough in itself. Who else could construct a memorable catchphrase by simply pronouncing their own name? (Besides maybe Mr Kennedy).

His extensions of the phrase such as ‘and I am the one, behind the one, in twenty-one and one’ or even his masterfully delivered ‘Brooooock Lesnerrrrr’ are just as compelling.

4. What? (Stone Cold Steve Austin)

What?

What?

Stone Cold Steve Austin boasts possessing a linear of popular catchphrases but his ‘What’ would have the longest lasting impact. Fans today will still chant ‘What’ during some superstars promos if they are bored, disagree or simply just to enjoy themselves.

Unfortunately this is the last time we will see Austin on this list. Other Stone Cold catchphrases such as ‘That’s the bottom line’ and ‘Give me a hell yeah’ could have both easily made the top 5 but other equally significant ones from others were chosen above them.

3. You’re Fired (Vince McMahon)

You’rrrre Firrrrred!!!!

You’rrrrrrre Firrrrrrred!!

The way in which Vince McMahon so perfectly screamed those simple two words into the face of numerous unlucky performers has become quite an unforgettable part of WWE history.

Vince is an incredible mastermind and despite some of recent questionable creative decisions he still deserves a lot of respect.

His infamous ‘You’re Fired’ catchphrase will forever be one of the greatest especially for an all-out heel.

2. If you smell what the Rock is cooking (The Rock)

Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?

As mentioned previously, The Rock simply oozed charisma and had a true connection with the audience so it should be no surprise he finds himself on this list again.

Of all The Rocks memorable catchphrases this is arguably the greatest. The Rock could have easily made the number one spot but he hasn’t, so who did? Continue reading to find out.

Woooooooooooooooo!

Wooooooooooooo!

The nature boy Ric Flair famous ‘wooo’ catchphrase takes the number one spot. The ‘wooo’ is so simple yet it works so well. Fans today still chant ‘wooo’ whenever a wrestler uses a backhanded chop/slap reminiscent of Flair. His daughter Charlotte has also adopted using the ‘wooo’ catchphrase on the odd occasion.

Ric Flair was also an incredible mic worker and had plenty of other memorable quotes that could have made the list but didn’t.
