Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton’s feud started on a fantastic note. With this feud we got great heels in Stephanie McMahon and Randy Orton. Triple H, too returned to being a heel, a characteristic that made him legendary. But the underdog story seemed to have lost some of its spark until Brie Bella was introduced in this ongoing rivalry. Her involvement was not earth shattering but it’s proven in the WWE that the damsel in distress storyline always illicit interest.
Here is a list of moments where the involvement of some women in a feud added fuel to the fire or were the breakthrough moment of their careers.
Randy Orton attacks Stephanie
2009 and 2010 are maybe the best years of Orton’s career. There was no one who could match up to him in the arena of being a heel. This is considered to be the character hardcore fans have longed for since Orton turned babyface. The feud with Triple H and his subsequent attacks on Shane, Vince and Stephanie gave him some huge momentum.
Jericho accidently punches HBK’s wife
2008 witnessed Jericho and Michaels, two of the most revered wrestlers in the WWE, have the best feud of the year. The drama was immense in the storyline so much so that HBK was planning to retire in the storyline but when he was about speak in the ring, Jericho came out and eventually tried punching HBK but accidently punched his wife.
The Lita – Matt Hardy – Kane Saga
Lita returned to the WWE in 2003 after a career threatening injury but in 2004 she was tangled in a feud between Matt Hardy and Kane. Matt Hardy turned face in the process. Lita got pregnant (storyline wise) with Kane’s baby. This followed a wedding, a miscarriage and a fiery feud with Trish Stratus.
Eve Torres and her heel turn
Before Wrestlemania 28, John Cena was out having nothing to do but wait for The Rock to return from his busy schedule. He had a feud with Kane and to instigate Cena and teasing the audience for a Cena heel turn Kane started attacking Ryder and his love interest Eve. But Eve kissed Cena in her damsel in distress avatar and all that led to eventually Eve turning heel and having the most notable character in her WWE career.
AJ becomes a ‘crazy chick’
AJ’s involvement in the Daniel Bryan – CM Punk – Kane feud cannot be ignored. She is basically the centrefold of whatever events transpired towards a feud between Bryan and Punk. She was part of one of the main WWE storylines and this cemented her consistent place on WWE television.
