Top 5 WWE Superstars from Quebec

Quebec has produced some tremendous performers

When it comes to great wrestling nations, they don't come much better than Canada. Over the years we've seen many top names from the Great White North ply their trade all over the world - and most notably in WWE. However, we're choosing to focus on a more specific location within the country as opposed to the whole place in its entirety: and that location is Quebec.

Quebec is the second-most populous province in Canada, boasting a population of well over 8 million people. Within that figure, we as wrestling fans have been blessed with a series of fantastic professional wrestlers, with the best of the best in the WWE product featuring on this list. Some you'll agree with and some you likely won't, and such is the beauty of this business we all know and love.

A few of these names are more recent than others, but either way that doesn't mean that one era is necessarily greater than the other. Canadians have always been working to improve this world of pro wrestling that we love so much for many decades now, and when you look at the current landscape of the industry, it's fair to say that they've succeeded.

So with all that being said, here are the top five WWE Superstars from Quebec.

#5 Jacques Rougeau - Saint-Sulpice

rougeau
We love The Mountie

Good old Jacques Rougeau was a big part of the World Wrestling Federation in the 1980s and 1990s, winning a string of titles in the company. With tag reigns alongside Raymond Rougeau and Pierre Ouellet to his name, Jacques also captured the Intercontinental Championship during his stint as The Mountie.

It was a pretty decorated career for a guy who probably wasn't tipped to do all that much within the company, and he's more than earned his place on this list. Jacques was severely underrated both in terms of his character and his in-ring abilities, and we'd love to see him enter the WWE Hall of Fame one day.

Olé!

#4 Sami Zayn - Laval

zayn
Zayn is destined for greatness

How good is Sami Zayn? Very good, is the answer. The Underdog from the Underground is one of the hottest stars in WWE today, with his move to SmackDown LIVE only set to increase his chances of being a World Champion one day. He's been working himself to the bone for well over a decade now trying to get to the top of this industry, and he's very nearly there.

His long-standing rivalry with fellow Quebec native Kevin Owens has pushed him up to that next level when it comes to top WWE Superstars, and Zayn will likely be featured strongly on the blue brand for many years to come. Who knows, perhaps in time he may even scale to the top of this list.

Speaking of Mr Owens...

#3 Kevin Owens - Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

owens
Owens is already a big player in WWE

The longest reigning Universal Champion in history pips his former best friend to third spot here, probably because of that statistic in all honesty. The guy is one of the most well-rounded performers currently on the WWE roster and in terms of mic skills, it's fair to suggest that there may well be nobody better in the world right now than Kevin Owens.

He's all set for a US Title feud with AJ Styles that will serve to elevate him that next step higher, and he's young enough to the point where he can continue to grow his legacy for many years to come. Oh, and in case you hadn't heard, he's the new Face of America despite being from Canada. So basically, he's just great.

It's time for the Rabid Wolverine.

#2 Chris Benoit - Montreal

benoit
Benoit was a wrestling machine

Forget all of the controversy and all of the nonsense - Chris Benoit was one of the greatest in-ring performers in the history of professional wrestling. Fact. The guy was one of the most outstanding technical wrestlers we've ever seen within our industry, and it's not a stretch to suggest that if he were still here today that he'd still be wrestling night in and night out.

He just misses out on the top spot to an even bigger legend of the game, but that doesn't detract from Benoit's accomplishments. He's won titles all over the world, and his World Heavyweight Championship triumph at WrestleMania 20 is still regarded as one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history to this day. It’s sad that WWE and its stars will never publicly acknowledge benoit as he comes under ‘ignore at all costs list’.

Now onto the man, the myth, the legend.

#1 Pat Patterson - Montreal

pat
Everyone loves Pat

Pat Patterson is a revolutionary figure within the wrestling business, both from a technical standpoint and behind the scenes. In the ring, Pat wasn't one to be messed with, as he was the inaugural WWF Intercontinental Champion. In addition to this, he's also credited with being the man who came up with the idea for the now legendary Royal Rumble match.

As Vince's right-hand man, Pat has been a vital figure in the wrestling business for years and years now, and his greatness deserves to be recognised by the masses. He may not have been the biggest name in the business, but when it comes to Quebec-based Superstars, Patterson stands head and shoulders above them all.
