Top 4 Matches to show people who don't like pro wrestling

This week's edition of The Final IV focuses on matches you want to show off to a non-wrestling fan to persuade them to give wrestling a chance.

This should make for a rather interesting discussion. Hello, one and all. This is the latest edition of "The Final IV", where we talk about, dissect and discuss the top four matches, superstars, or elements surrounding this crazy and bizarre world we like to love and call the "wrestling business".

Having said that, I chose an interesting topic that I was thinking about tonight while at work. If you are a die-hard fan of pro wrestling, as a majority of you all are if you're reading this, how would you go about trying to convince your family or friends to watch wrestling with you? Better yet, what matches would you show them?

The idea behind this piece tonight is to talk about the matches that I have personally chosen that could get a friend or family member interested, at the very least, in watching wrestling with you the next time you flip on the WWE, Impact Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, or whatever you like to like to watch.

Granted, we all have our opinions and therefore, this list is purely my top four matches that "I" would personally recommend a person to check out if they're either a new fan or someone who has never watched wrestling before but would become quickly interested. Without any further ado, let's get started, shall we?#4

#4 - John Cena vs The Rock - WrestleMania XXVIII

John Cena vs The Rock (WrestleMania 28)

We kick things off with an interesting choice, to say the least. I chose this match not because it was a catch-as-catch-can, technical contest, as both The Rock and John Cena can both put on a good match but aren't the best in-ring technicians by any means.

However, you cannot argue that both men are icons in their own right and the mere attraction of both mega superstars facing each other in a one-on-one contest would attract eyeballs on even the most jaded wrestling fan, especially if they know both men through their Hollywood and television projects. While both John Cena and The Rock would face each other the following year at WrestleMania XXIX, this contest is arguably the better of the two matches.

#3 - Johnny Gargano vs Tommaso Ciampa - NXT Takeover: New Orleans 2018

Tomasso Ciampa vs John Gargano

The next match up on our list is one that may go down as one of the best street fights in wrestling history. Tomasso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano. Two former tag team partners. Two former best friends turned bitter rivals and enemies.

These two men brought everything, including the kitchen sink, in this contest. Anything that was not nailed down was used as a weapon or an object to hurt each other, at the risk of causing bodily harm and pain to their own body in order to sacrifice themselves for the sake of complete destruction to their counterpart.

This was a personal rivalry that showcased the epic storyline telling skills in their performances. The level of skill and athleticism showed how far both men would go to show just how physical two wrestlers can go.

This match was violent... maybe uncomfortably violent, but the point got across at just how far two men will go. This was certainly a match of the year candidate for 2018. The dedication shown by both men to pull off how personal you can take a rivalry is a detriment to their character growth and shows how far both Gargano and Ciampa have come in their wrestling careers.

For nearly forty-five minutes, both men put on a battle that will go down as one of the best personal rivalries we have seen in well over a decade. This is a match that will entice someone who loves hard hitting, action packed, no holds barred fighting to want more.

This is a great match to recommend, as this battle showcases the true meaning of a great wrestling storyline that pulls you in emotionally and will leave you hooked to the product.

#2 Pete Dunne vs Tyler Bate - NXT Takeover: Chicago 2017

Pete Dunn vs Tyler Bate

The next match on my list is certainly a barnburner that will leave your senses tingling and heart pumping with sheer adrenaline. The NXT UK division was in its early stages, as two men known as Pete Dunn and Tyler Bate put on an absolutely amazing contest that literately stole the show on this night in Chicago, Illinois.

Tyler Bate captured the United Kingdom Championship against Pete Dunn in a well-anticipated rematch that delivered a smash mouth performance that separated themselves from a traditional WWE style wrestling match to an old-school performance that will leave you reflecting back on the good ol' days of the NWA of decades ago.

This match single handily made stars out of Pete Dunn and Tyler Bate, respectively. Both would go on to be major stars for the NXT UK division across the pond. Looking back in retrospect, this match was important in the legacy of both men, especially Pete Dunn.

Pete Dunn lost to Tyler Bate in the finals of the UK Championship Tournament but quickly earned himself a rematch by defeating Trent Seven in a WWE Live Event to earn himself a number one contender's match against Bate.

This began the night of the streak that is still going on to the present day, as Pete Dunn is quickly approaching 600+ days as the WWE United Kingdom Champion.

Needless to say, if you need a match to show off to your wrestling hating friend or family member, this may be a great pick for someone to kick back and suspend their disbelief that wrestling is just a fake, choreographed entertainment juggernaut.

These two did a tremendous job in producing high quality, technical wrestling action that will leave even the most jaded fan salivating for more.

#1 Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Dominion 2017

Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada (NJPW Dominion 2017)
Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada (NJPW Dominion 2017)

My number one pick is a match that is purely a work of art in terms of the wrestling business in the 21st century. As you can tell by my list, I tried to stick to matches that have taken place over the last decade or so.

Obviously, I could have really went back in time, pulled some classics from the NWA/JCP, AWA, WWF/E and so on, but considering that if you want to convince a new fan to embrace the art of wrestling for what it is, you have to go with the present and not rely on the past. The business has changed and evolved, for better or for worse, as the years go by.

I chose Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada from NJPW Dominion as a match that will leave any person breathless in pure amazement and satisfaction. Whether or not you agree with Dave Meltzer and his rating system, you have to admit this match indeed exceeded any type of "five-star rating system" across anyone's board.

Watching two warriors battle it out in a two-out-of-three falls contest for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a match with (pretty much) the freedom to do almost anything and everything they wanted inside the squared circle left very much to the imagination.

The two men wrestled for the first time at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11, with Okada defeating Omega in a little over 45 minutes to retain the championship. This would be the long-awaited rematch that wrestling fans were anxiously anticipating to see.

Without giving away the end result, as I would want fans to see this in all its purity and enjoy it for how I have on the night this match took place, I implore anyone to watch this contest and invest a good hour of your time... trust me, it's well worth it!

It's matches like this that make you smile from the inner core and say: "Damn! I am PROUD to be a wrestling fan!". If that doesn't convince a nonbeliever to watch this crazy, whacky world of wrestling, then I don't know what will folks!

Do you agree with my list? What would you have chosen? I'm interested to hear your answers and see your replies. As always stay tuned to Sportskeeda for all the latest wrestling news, results and content!
