What if Roman Reigns had joined SmackDown Live in the 2016 draft?

Roman Reigns has been the golden boy of Vince McMahon ever since 2015. The Boss has tried his best to push Reigns to the moon by having him main event multiple WrestleManias and other big WWE pay-per-views. There's almost nothing the Samoan superstar has not achieved in WWE.

He has won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, the Universal Championship, the United States Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, and also the WWE tag team championships. The WWE Creative has always wanted the WWE Universe to look at Roman Reigns as 'The Guy'. Thus, they had drafted him to their premier show, Monday Night RAW in the 2016 Draft.

But, what if they had shifted him to the blue brand thinking that he may become popular performing on the 'B' show. In this article, we will have a look at the things that would have happened had Reigns joined Shane McMahon's show in 2016.

#1 Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose at WWE SummerSlam 2016

A lot of members of the WWE Universe might have forgotten that Dean Ambrose was the WWE Champion in 2016. Even those who remember that Ambrose was the champion, they may have forgotten that he had defended the belt against Dolph Ziggler at the biggest party of the summer in 2016.

Yes, Dolph Ziggler had won a six-pack challenge on the first episode of SmackDown Live to earn the right to challenge Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam.

If Roman Reigns was a part of the SmackDown roster, then he would have won that match and challenged Dean Ambrose for the WWE title. Though he was facing the ire of the top officials of the company because of his policy violation, Vince and co. would not have him lose the #1 contender's match.

#2 Roman Reigns is a 4-time WWE World Champion

And you can believe that!
And you can believe that!

There's no chance that Roman Reigns would fail to defeat his Shield-brother, Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam. The WWE Creative would have built this feud taking respect as the main subject. Both Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose have a lot of respect for each other and the best man will take the title at SummerSlam.

Reigns and Ambrose have a solid match at SummerSlam where the Big Dog conquers the challenge of his best friend to become a 4-time WWE Champion. The WWE Universe would have been enthralled by the match and the terrific competition that they saw, with the fans in attendance chanting, "This is Awesome!"

Reigns would have become the top guy of SmackDown Live, receiving the mixed reactions that he always used to get. But, there's a twist at the end of this match.

#3 Dean Ambrose turns heel

If you were watching WWE in 2016, you might remember that the WWE Universe booed Dean Ambrose during his WWE Championship reign. The Lunatic Fringe failed to carry himself as the top champion of the industry and it seemed like he was better off in the mid-card. But, WWE could have sky-rocketed his career by turning his character heel.

Dean Ambrose would lose his mind after Roman Reigns pinned him and then he would destroy his brother Roman Reigns. Dean would brutally assault Reigns. The (annoying!) security team would interfere here and stop Ambrose. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan would suspend Dean Ambrose for 4 months for his actions.

On the other side, Roman Reigns would kick-off his 4th WWE Championship reign next Tuesday on the Land Of Opportunity, SmackDown Live.

#4 John Cena vs Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2017

We would get a 3 or 4 months long feud between Roman Reigns and John Cena

If Roman Reigns would have been a part of SmackDown Live, then the WWE Universe may not have had to wait until late 2017 to see a feud between Vince McMahon's two golden boys, Roman Reigns, and John Cena.

The two legends crossed paths at WWE No Mercy in 2017 but if Reigns was on the blue brand, then WWE would book a match between Cena and Reigns for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view which had taken place at Alamodome.

In front of 52,000 WWE fans, the top two stars of the company would lock horns and just like No Mercy 2017, we would see John Cena passing the torch to Reigns after building up the feud with a superb war of words.

Before facing John Cena, WWE would have used the likes of Bray Wyatt and the man who had the maximum potential to become WWE Champion then, Baron Corbin, to battle with Reigns on the brand-exclusive pay-per-views.

#5 Dean Ambrose returns jacked up to win Royal Rumble 2017, Reigns and Ambrose main event WrestleMania 33

Roman Reigns had a stellar run as the WWE Champion on SmackDown Live, and now the WWE Creative wants to have the Big Dog on RAW. Thus, Reigns would drop the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33.

Dean Ambrose's suspension would end just in time for the Royal Rumble match of 2017 and thus, at #30 the Lunatic would stun the world with the new jacked up look we are seeing currently.

Dean Ambrose would win the Rumble and without any hesitation picks Roman Reigns as his WrestleMania opponent. The two brothers would have a defying rivalry where the fans would cheer Dean Ambrose in spite of him being the heel in this storyline.

Reigns and Ambrose battle in the main event of WrestleMania 33 where an unexpected help from the heel Seth Rollins would turn the tables in favor of Dean Ambrose.
