On the May 13th episode of Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins and AJ Styles didn't have a face-to-face interaction, but were interviewed seperately. He mentioned something that WWE rarely ever does - past history outside the company.

Rollins said that the first time he faced AJ Styles was in 2006 and it's been over a decade since. We decided to take a look at the match and you might be interested to know that it was quite a good match, even with Rollins still young at the age of 19.

The match took place on 28th April 2006 at Muscatine, Iowa, for NWA's No Limits show. Who won the match? None other than The Phenomenal AJ Styles.

What's interesting is that AJ Styles was clearly the far more experienced competitor, but after their match, The Phenomenal One made a prediction that turned out to be 100% true. He called Tyler Black "the future of wrestling" when he was just 19 years old.

Naturally, Styles had a special eye for talent, being one of the best in the world himself. Though he was making waves at the time with TNA, it could be argued that he still didn't reach the level that he eventually would.

It's fascinating to watch the match because both were future WWE World Champions and they didn't even know it. While they probably did assume that they would cross paths later on, little did they predict that it would be on the biggest stage in WWE 13 years later.

After WrestleMania 35, AJ Styles moved to RAW after being SmackDown's top star for over two and a half years. He would immediately shoot himself into Universal Championship contention and all roads led to a World title clash against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank 2019.
