Why Dean Ambrose must sign with NJPW and not AEW following his WWE departure

Just a few hours before SmackDown Live went on air, WWE officially confirmed the news of Dean Ambrose leaving the company after his contract expires in April.

This news was reported by Wade Keller of Pro Wrestling Torch who said that Ambrose had reportedly given WWE his notice, and wasn't willing to sign a new contract which would have given him a higher pay.

Ambrose is said to have been frustrated with the creative direction of his character for quite some time, and is said to have reached his breaking point sometime this week.

This piece of news, as excepted, has created huge ripples in the IWC, with many speculating about the future of Ambrose and where the Lunatic Fringe will land following his departure from the WWE.

While the report from PWT doesn't mention anything about Ambrose's future, many have started speculating a move to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Ambrose has been a top star in the WWE for the past five years, and given the kind of money being pumped in AEW by the Khan family, he is excepted to get a huge big-money offer from AEW, given the fact that he has become a household name during his stint in the WWE.

But we believe that Ambrose should sign with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and not All Elite Wrestling.

First of all, we don't exactly know much about the future of AEW. Apart from announcing two shows later this year and releasing a slew of merchandise on Pro Wrestling Tees, the promotion hasn't revealed anything about their future as of now.

While Cody, The Young Bucks, and the rest of The Elite have made impromptu appearances on various independent shows to promote ' Double or Nothing', it is still not clear whether or not AEW will have a weekly TV show, or if they will only be doing a couple of shows throughout the year.

Secondly, with the kind of talent AEW has on hand as well as the reported names excepted to sign with the promotion in the coming days, it is almost a given that Ambrose will get lost in the shuffle.

Lastly, given the number of potshots Cody and The Bucks have been taking at the WWE, we don't think that they will be looking to sign a lot of ex WWE Superstars, except for the ones they are really close to.

On the other hand, the departure of The Elite has left a huge void in New Japan Pro Wrestling. The promotion's global expansion in the USA saw a huge surge last year when the promotion held a series of high-profile events in the States, with Omega spearheading each.

The Company has a couple of huge shows lined up for 2019 in the US, including the G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden, and the G1 Climax Opener at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas.

But with Omega leaving the company for AEW, New Japan will need a huge name to fill in for the Cleaner, and we believe Ambrose can fill that spot. Ambrose is a huge name in the States, and would be a huge catch for NJPW.

Ambrose has been a workhorse during his time in the WWE, and has been one of the consistent performers in the company over the past few years. Ambrose could easily become the next 'AJ Styles' of New Japan.

Besides, there are a lot of dream matches which Ambrose could have in the Land of the Rising Sun. Ambrose squaring off against the likes of Tetsuya Naito, Minoru Suzuki, and Tomohiro Ishii will be a sight to behold.

New Japan has been open about their desire to sign ex WWE Superstars, following the success Chris Jericho had in the promotion, and we believe the promotion will be vying to acquire the services of the former Intercontinental Champion once he becomes a free agent following WrestleMania 35.
