Why three-time WWE Champion Roman Reigns is still not over with the fans

Roman Reigns belongs to the respected Samoan dynasty that has a rich history in world wrestling. Stars such as the Usos, Umaga, The Rock and several others are part of the big Samoan wrestling family making an impact in the WWE and its predecessors.

In 2010 he decided to make a name for himself in wrestling. He was first signed to WWE's developmental brand FCW before moving on to WWE NXT in 2012. He debuted on the main roster at the Survivor Series 2012 PPV as one of the Shield members.

Now, in 2018, Reigns is a three-time world champion, the 2015 Royal Rumble winner, a grand slam champion and has wrestled in WWE's biggest PPV, WrestleMania, three times. He is talented and has accomplished a lot in the WWE, but the WWE Universe doesn't treat him as the poster boy of the company, as he is meant to be, brutally booing in almost every arena.

The problem started at the 2015 Royal Rumble event, which he won, but the fans wanted Daniel Bryan to win, whose popularity was going through the roof at that time. More importantly though, he lacks three basic wrestling qualities, which is why he's failing to get over with the fans: mic-skills, charisma and character.

To fix this issue, WWE should come up with more creative ideas and should book him differently. Take a look at Braun Strowman, for example. He is not a blue-eyed poster boy and he also lacks mic-skills, on the other hand he is good between the ropes. He is very similar to Reigns but both are treated very differently by the audience. Despite him being a heel, Strowman is cheered by the fans. On the contrary, The Big Dog is booed, despite being a face.

But why? It's because WWE isn't trying to force it with Braun. They are pushing him in a proper way and without winning a single championship belt, he is loved by the majority of the fans. Additionally he has a captivating character, whereas Reigns doesn't have that. He is still plying the gimmick of a Shield member, despite competing individually since 2014. The Monster Among Men is over with the fans because he's been booked perfectly in the past months..

If WWE applies the same thinking to Roman Reign's character and they try to book him correctly, perhaps Vince McMahon could finally get the crowd reaction he wants for the "Big Dog"
