Why John Cena wont win his upcoming singles matches in WWE

John Cena has been 'the face that runs the place' for over 15 years, which is no child's play. He rose like a phoenix at times of animosity and distress. WWE has been dependent on him for a very long time, but as we can see now, he is stepping aside to push young talents, because he thinks his time is up in the pro wrestling scene.

There has been a perception that Cena has 'buried' wrestlers' careers in the past, but contrary to that in recent times, Cena has been pushing new wrestlers.

This new avatar of Cena started a while back after his shoulder injury. After his return, he started his feud with AJ Styles, and in a matter of three months, he established Styles as the top star of SD Live, which led to Styles becoming the foundation of the blue brand.

After his defeat against Styles at Backlash, we symbolically saw Cena remove his wristband in the ring after the match. Many spectators thought that Cena had given up, but that gesture signified that he wanted to pass the torch to the next generation of wrestlers.

Cena also feuded with Kevin Owens when he debuted on the main roster, which made the Prizefighter a credible heel. Cena took a defeat at the hands of the debutant back in 2015, and till date, Owens has used this achievement several times over to prove his power and ability.

Cena has realised his time is up, and he needs to step down from the 'Franchise Player' gimmick now because there are many young talents who have wondrous careers ahead of them.

The sixteen-time world heavyweight champion wasn't available for the entire 2018, except for a few occasions, which left the fans in a dilemma whether he will retire or not. The Leader of Cenation gave an interview to Sports Illustrated, and he said:

"It's a giant relay race, and I'm in the phase where I'm handing the stick off," he says.

Riffing on the lyrics to his WWE entrance theme, he adds:

"My time is up," "Someone else's time is now."

However, John Cena has declared it on several occasions that WWE is his home, and he will always make his return.

To substantiate his statement, we can analyze his last few appearances on RAW and SD Live.

He made his return after a long hiatus on the January 2 episode of SmackDown Live, where Becky Lynch took a jab at him, and even attacked him after their match against Zelina Vega and Andrade Cien Almas got over.

Despite being the top star of WWE who has had a very successful career to back him up, he let 'The Man' put him down.

Another example can be his appearance on RAW last week, where he took the pinfall from Finn Balor, and let him win the #1 contender match for the RAW Universal Championship. He also took the chance to endorse Balor, and that push gave Balor a lot of credibility and hype.

There are many rumors that Cena could face Velveteen Dream, Lars Sullivan, or Elias at the 'Grandest Stage of them all' this April.

Cena faced a loss against Undertaker last WrestleMania, and there are huge chances that he will put up a critically appreciated match this WrestleMania, and take a loss in order to push the young talents to heights he has already achieved.

Cena stepping down from the main scene is the most sensible thing he can do right now, as he will turn 42 this year, and he also has a promising acting career ahead. However, the wrestling fans and the members of Cenation will miss the 'Doctor of Thugonomics' as the main star of WWE.

His absence will be felt, and his return to 'his home' will cause a lot of hype, and it will also throttle the viewership to the next level. WWE need to build another face who can at least reach his level of popularity, if not more.

The Champ's impeccable efforts are immeasurable, and the WWE Universe will always be grateful to Cena for his contribution to the wrestling world.
