Why Sasha Banks' return is exactly what Becky Lynch's title reign needed

On last night’s episode of WWE Raw, Sasha Banks made her much-anticipated return and attacked both Natalya and RAW Women’s Champion, Becky Lynch. After two lackluster feuds with Lacey Evans and Natalya, Banks is the perfect opponent for Lynch, and just what her title reign needed after the dull feuds.

Up until last night, Lynch has had only two opponents since WrestleMania - Lacey Evans and Natalya. Evans was hot shotted into the title picture way too soon and was exposed for needing more time.

Natalya, on the other hand, was credible but had been irrelevant for so long that no one cared for the feud.

Meanwhile, fans have been waiting for Banks to return for months now, and when she returned, the crowd popped loudly for her. She has the credibility Evans lacked and the relevance Natalya lacked.

Another issue with Lynch's reign thus far is that her real-life relationship with Seth Rollins was infused into their feuds. Rollins' feud with Baron Corbin and Lynch's feud with Evans become intertwined and made for cringe-worthy programming.

While it didn't hurt Lynch's popularity with the crowd, fans slowly began to turn on Rollins until his performance at SummerSlam against Brock Lesnar.

It is also worth mentioning that there is some legitimate heat between Becky and Sasha, from the promo Becky cut over SummerSlam weekend to the slap Sasha gave her during the beatdown last night. That will add more fire to this already hot feud.

While Sasha attacking Bayley would have made more sense and told a better story, Lynch’s title reign needs Sasha more than Bayley’s does. If this feud is done properly, it could be just what the women’s division needed after slowing down post-WrestleMania.
