The gong strikes. The crowd goes absolutely berserk. And through all the smoke comes a man, 6 foot 10 inches, weighing around 300 pounds, with his trademark black hat, his coat, and begins his eerie, mystical walk to the ring.

For almost three decades now, The Undertaker has been the cornerstone of WWE. Superstars have come and gone, but ‘The Phenom’ has stayed on. He has outlived all his peers, and can legitimately stake claim to be the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.

One thing that strikes you, when you look at "The Deadman", is the dedication, the man behind The Undertaker- Mark Calaway, has put to produce an iconic character that will live on as long as professional wrestling exists.

The thing is this- how long can the gimmick of a man answering to the dark side with supernatural powers last? How can a man make a crowd go crazy with just the sound of a gong? But then, The Undertaker did it. He has thrived like nobody else could, he has put his body on the line, has withstood the harsh tribulations of the Pro Wrestling world, has constantly reinvented himself, and most importantly, has stayed fresh.

Yes, we have had the Hogans, The Austins, The Rocks and the Flairs. But WWE can never, ever produce another Undertaker. The man has, over the course of three decades, lived out a fairy tale inside the ring that can never ever be replicated.

And that is why, if you ask any wrestling fan to name their top 5 greatest wrestlers, The Undertaker will invariably figure in the list. He has sort of become a mythical legend whom every WWE fan and other Superstars look up to with a unique sense of veneration, that is inaccessible to the lesser mortals of the business.

The greatest thing about the Undertaker is the aura that he managed to create- especially at the Grandest Stage Of Them All. ‘The Streak’ was bigger than any title in WWE, and is a feat that can never ever be surpassed.

The kind of matches that The Undertaker produced, the story that he told with each rivalry, the extent to which he was willing to abuse his body and push himself, puts him on a pedestal that ordinary mortals cannot fathom.

And that is exactly why the WWE can never ever produce another Undertaker. He was, and will always remain the holy grail.
