Why WWE should have introduced a mixed tag team championship on SmackDown Live

Will we see them soon in the WWE?
Will we see them soon in the WWE?

WWE introduced the women’s tag team championships on RAW last Monday, looking at the considerable number of women on their roster. But the key problem in introducing the women’s tag team titles is that it will be limited to one brand only. RAW and SmackDown Live have a combined number of 6 female tag teams, which is not enough to run 2 separate tag team divisions.

WWE Creative realised this, and so only launched one set of women’s tag team championships, which will be used by both brands. It will be interesting to see how things work out in future, as the number of women’s tag teams are very less.

So in my opinion, WWE should have kept the women’s tag team titles exclusive to RAW, and should have introduced the mixed tag team championships on SmackDown Live. The blue brand has the lesser number of established tag teams in the female division, and also the women of the ‘B’ show interact more with the male superstars than the female superstars of RAW.

Talking about the mixed tag teams on SmackDown Live, we have several established tag teams like The Miz and Asuka, Andrade and Zelina Vega, Rusev and Lana, R-Truth and Carmella, Jimmy Uso and Naomi. The WWE can as well form many more tag teams, as there is a plethora of talent on SmackDown Live.

Also, the current storyline involving Mandy Rose, Naomi, and Jimmy Uso would have been way more exciting had the mixed tag team championships been active on SmackDown Live.

The WWE Universe loves mixed tag team matches, and SmackDown has a lot of interesting characters like Shinsuke Nakamura, the IIconics, Aiden English, Becky Lynch, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, Charlotte Flair, and Samoa Joe.

The thrill and excitement of the mixed tag team division would have been on another level, and the fans would have certainly welcomed this move with open hands.
