Ronda Rousey will team with Kurt Angle in her debut match

With WWE WrestleMania 34 on the horizon, we are building up to the event by taking a look at five key facts about every match at this year’s “Showcase of the Immortals”.

In this article, we focus on one of the most anticipated matches of the night – Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon.

Will the Olympic duo get the win on the grand ‘Mania stage? Or will WWE’s biggest power couple ruin Ronda’s debut match?

#5 Stephanie McMahon has never wrestled at WrestleMania

Stephanie and Ronda were involved in a segment at WrestleMania 31

According to wrestling database cagematch.net, Stephanie McMahon competed in 23 matches for WWE between September 1999 and August 2014.

The majority of those 23 matches took place on Raw or SmackDown, with only four coming at pay-per-view events (No Way Out 2001 vs. Trish Status, Vengeance 2003 vs. Sable, No Mercy 2003 vs. Vince McMahon, and SummerSlam 2014 vs. Brie Bella).

The Raw Commissioner has appeared on screen at plenty of WrestleMania events over the years, most recently by the side of husband Triple H in 2017 for his match against Seth Rollins, but WrestleMania 34 will be her first official match on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”.

#4 Triple H has lost more WrestleMania matches than anyone

One of
Triple H had two memorable WrestleMania defeats against The Undertaker

Shawn Michaels set the record for the most number of defeats (11) at WrestleMania when he lost to The Undertaker in the final match of his career at WrestleMania XXVI.

At the time, Triple H had only lost seven matches at WWE’s biggest show of the year and he was still a long way away from ever surpassing his best friend’s unwanted record.

However, following losses to The Undertaker x2, Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, “The Game” now holds the record for the most number of defeats (12) at “The Show of Shows”.

#3 Stephanie & Triple H have teamed together four times

WWE'
Stephanie was by Triple H's side for much of the Attitude Era

Believe it or not, Stephanie McMahon is actually a pretty good tag partner! She teamed with seven people during her in-ring career (Triple H, Kurt Angle, Test, Shane McMahon, Steve Austin, William Regal and Zack Gowen) and she only lost five of her combined 12 tag matches.

Stephanie and Triple H teamed together on four occasions between August 2000 and April 2001, winning three times and losing just once.

Two of those victories were six-person tag matches (against The Dudley Boyz & Lita and against Test, Albert & Trish Stratus), and you’ll never guess who their partner was? Only a certain Olympic gold medallist! Oh, it’s true, it’s damn true.

#2 Ronda Rousey has been wrestling training for four years

Ronda has been preparing for the squared circle for a long time

So far, Ronda Rousey’s only televised physical altercations as a WWE performer have been with Triple H (Elimination Chamber), Stephanie McMahon (Raw) and Dana Brooke (when Raw went off the air), and we haven’t seen too much of what she can do inside a squared circle.

Some fans believe that’s a good thing and that the MMA megastar has every right to walk straight onto the main roster and into a featured match at WrestleMania, while others feel it’s unfair that she has been rocketed straight to the top without sufficient training at the Performance Centre.

Well, Performance Centre or no Performance Centre, Triple H revealed during a January media call that Ronda has been wrestling training “on the side” for the last four years, so there can be no excuses once that bell rings in New Orleans!

#1 Stephanie has a better career win ratio than Triple H & Kurt Angle

Ste
Stephanie's last match was against Brie Bella at SummerSlam 2014

Do not adjust your reading device – you really did just read that Stephanie McMahon has a better career win ratio than wrestling legends Triple H and Kurt Angle.

According to data on cagematch.net, “The Game” has won 1005 of his 1942 matches throughout his wrestling career (51.8%), which just gives him a better win ratio than Kurt, who has been victorious in 787 of his 1523 career matches (51.7%).

However, neither Superstar can boast a record quite as good as Stephanie, who has won 12 of her 23 career matches (granted, she's had a lot fewer matches!), giving her an overall win ratio of 52.2%.
