In the world of WWE programming, matches and stories are choreographed and created as kayfabe to the WWE universe as real-life events.

WWE superstars are trained professionally to understand the storylines created by the WWE producers and do their best in selling the stories to the WWE Universe. As a result, there have been instances where WWE storylines have broken brotherhood and familial ties between WWE superstars.

Today, we bring you a list of feuds between WWE superstars who were brothers. In these instances, the WWE creative team turned these superstars into sworn enemies even though they were brothers in real life.

#3 Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner

Scott and Rick Steiner, real-life brothers, began their professional wrestling career with the World Championship Wrestling (WCW). They later moved to WWF (now WWE) where they experienced immense success as the then WWF tag team champions. Following their success with the WWF, they returned to the WCW in 1998 and would later feud against one another.

Scott was the first to turn heel as he changed his haircut and increased his mass muscle. He began refusing to tag his brother during matches to show that he would be able to win matches on his own without Rick's support. In 1998, they lost their tag team championship belt because of Scott's refusal to tag in Rick. On 22 February 1998, Scott turned against his brother Rick in their tag team match against the Outsiders.

Scott would walk out of the match, leaving his brother to be defeated by the outsiders. This would begin a feud between the two brothers until they reunited shortly before the demise of the WCW franchise. Scott and Rick Steiner are considered by many as one of the greatest tag team partners in the history of professional wrestling.

#2 Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy

The Hardy brothers joined the WWF (now WWE) in 1998 and quickly rose to prominence as tag team champions after defeating the Acolytes on 29 June 1999 on an episode of Monday Night Raw. After immense success together, both of them went their separate ways in the business. Jeff Hardy was the first to find success, winning the WWE Championship in 2008.

Matt Hardy lost his challenge to ECW Championship to Jack Swagger and interfered in Jeff Hardy's title defense match against Edge, hitting him with a steel chair and allowing Edge to win the title. Matt later announced that he had severed his brotherhood and tag team ties with Jeff Hardy. They faced each other in Extreme rules match in Wrestlemania 25, where Matt won. They faced again in a stretcher match which Matt won once again.

Jeff won their last match against each other but Matt later interfered in Jeff's World Heavyweight title match, preventing him from winning. They would later reunite shortly before they left WWE. Though they feuded with each other, they remained brothers.

#1 Owen Hart and Bret Hart

As members of the Hart Wrestling family, Owen and Bret were passionate about the sports from the start of their lives. They would later join the sport their father competed in and would go on to win several accolades together and alone. In 1993, Owen crashed with his senior brother, Bret in a tag team match against Shawn Michaels and his team.

They engaged in a heated exchange right after the match. Owen, who was apparently angered by being in his brother's shadows, challenged him to a match, but Bret declined.

Later in their tag team match, Bret who appeared injured tried to tag his brother Owen but he would decline and rather hit him in his injured knee. He would further continue his assault on his brother backstage. This started a heated feud between the two brothers who faced off at Wrestlemania 20 where Owen pinned his brother for the first time.

They would continue feud several times in 1994 and prominently in two matches at Summerslam and in a lumberjack match. Their feud was voted by Pro Wrestling Illustrated as the feud of the year. Both Bret and Owen had great success during their wrestling careers.
