Every pro wrestling fan knows that what wrestlers do in the ring is pre-planned. I don’t know about other wrestling promotions, but in WWE, promos are also scripted. Wrestlers constantly work and travel for more than 300 days a year and in no way, is this job is easy. Not everyone can manage to work in this tiring schedule for a long time but, there are some superstars who are doing exactly the same.

Some casual fans think scripted and fake are one and the same but it isn't the truth. Even though wrestlers work according to a script, they still get hurt every time they into the ring. It doesn’t matter if they are taking less/more damage than it appears, it still affects their body.

Some wrestlers retire quiet early when their body gets damaged by working on such a tough routine. But, some robust wrestlers are still working in the squared circle when they really shouldn’t be.

In this article, we will look at some old wrestlers who shouldn’t be working in the ring and some who are still going strong.

#5 Too old to wrestle: The Undertaker

Born: 24 March 1965

Current Age: 53 years

Wrestling Debut: 1984

Every wrestling fan knows his name. The Undertaker is possibly the best wrestler WWE has ever employed. He debuted in 1990, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, as a mystery partner of The Million Dollar Man’s team.

A year after his debut, The Deadman became WWF Champion but his first title reign was brief as he lost it just after six days to Hulk Hogan. The Undertaker didn’t win the World Championship till 1997, but in the intervening years, he had become one of the most recognized superstars in WWF.

It’s been 29 years since he made his debut in WWF but he is still working. He is only a part-time wrestler now but it’s surprising that after suffering so many injuries, The Undertaker isn't retired.

After WrestleMania 33, everyone thought that The Undertaker has retired after Roman Reigns beat him but The Master Of Pain returned to the ring a year later to face John Cena at ‘Mania 34. He then fought a few matches but now, his WrestleMania spot is in question. WWE wants him to work at this show but apparently, they don’t have any plans for him, right now.

He is 53 years old and at this age, it is probably better to retire than to keep working, especially if his job is to wrestle.

You can watch this interview of 'Taker to know more about the serious injuries he has suffered during his career.

#4 Can still wrestle: R-Truth

R-Truth still provides great matches

Born: 19 January 1972

Current Age: 47 years

Wrestling Debut: 1997

R-Truth recently won the WWE United States Championship but sadly, lost it to Samoa Joe in this week’s Smackdown Live. Truth has a comedic gimmick in WWE that he’s already mastered. He may not be the most liked superstar in this company but he is surely one of the funniest, as the fans never regret watching his funny segments.

This week’s episode of Smackdown was enough to understand his sense of humour but don’t let that deceive you from the fact that he’s a great fighter. A casual wrestling fan may not believe that R-Truth can perform in the ring after seeing him act funny but they will surely become his fan once Truth shows his skills.

He is 47 years old but if you watch his matches, you probably won't believe that. He has been working for the WWE since 2008 (his second run with the company) and despite being seen as a jobber, Truth is one of the most respected veterans of all time.

#3 Too old to wrestle: Kurt Angle

The former Olympic Gold Medalist is reportedly in a bad shape

Born: 9 December 1968

Current Age: 50 years

Wrestling Debut: 1998

The former Olympic gold medalist, Kurt Angle, is currently working for WWE as a part-timer. He made his professional wrestling debut in 1998 and in a few years became a popular superstar. In 2017, WWE inducted him into the Hall Of Fame Class but then, Angle returned to the company as RAW’s new General Manager.

From the past few weeks, there have been some rumors that the former WWE Champion could retire at this year’s WrestleMania and while it is not confirmed who his opponent will be, I believe that Drew McIntyre could defeat Angle in his final match.

The veteran is 50 years old and while some fans believe that he still wrestles like the young talents, Brad Shepard revealed that he can barely move well. However, we can’t really blame him as he provided great matches during his prime. But now, he should not being wrestling anymore.

#2 Can still wrestle: Rey Mysterio

The Master of 619 is still going strong

Born: 11 December 1974

Current Age: 44 years

Wrestling Debut: 1989

Rey Mysterio, the youngest superstar on this list, is certainly one of the best performers in WWE. He is included him on this list because he still wrestles exceptionally for his age. The Mexican Luchador works on a full-time basis and still puts on great matches every time.

He made his WWE debut in 2002 and won the Royal Rumble match in 2016. Other than that, the Master of 619 is also a 3-time WWE champion. After departing from Vince McMahon’s company, Mysterio worked for many independent promotions.

Even though Rey is 44 years old, he still looks in the best shape than ever. If you still don’t believe me then watch this fatal-four-way match Mysterio recently wrestled against Andrade, Samoa Joe, and R-Truth.

#1 Too old to wrestle: Triple H

The Game should not wrestle anymore

Born: 27 July 1969

Current Age: 49 years

Wrestling Debut: 1992

Triple H is one of the most tenured superstars in the history of WWE. It’s been 24 years since he started working for Vince McMahon’s company and now has become a major part of it. Not only does he work as a wrestler, he also manages things backstage.

The Game is so obsessed with wrestling that he never stops fighting during a match even if he’s seriously injured. His match at Crown Jewel, for instance, wasn’t a great match and close to its end, Triple H got injured. However, the King Of Kings didn’t take a step back and completed the match even with a pectoral injury.

However, that doesn’t mean that he still fights well in the ring. He is 49 years old and after suffering many injuries, we can’t expect him to provide as great a match as he did during his prime years.

The Game is currently in a feud with Batista and it seems like they will face off at WrestleMania but I think The Animal should retire him. You can clearly see his poor performance in his match against The Undertaker and Kane at WWE Crown Jewel.
