5 Quickest Money in the Bank cash ins

Cena might be a bad MITB holder, but he sure is fast

The true essence of Money in the Bank is that it sets up an unpredictable environment. A Money in the Bank winner could cash in the contract anytime and anywhere he wants after winning it. Some prefer milking out the situation and waiting for the perfect moment while others don’t believe in the process of waiting and cash in quickly.

Though the impact of cashing in is similar in both conditions, it would be more surprising if someone cashes in the contract fast as it goes up against the general trend. With the new edition of Money in the Bank just around the corner, we are going to take a look at some of the fastest Money in the Bank cash-ins.

#5 Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio would’ve topped this list if it wasn’t for CM Punk. Del Rio, after winning the Money in the Bank in 2011, was ordered to cash in his contract on the same night by Vince McMahon. The reigning champion CM Punk was on his way out of WWE with the title and to stop this, Vince wanted Del Rio to do the dirty work.

However, Punk managed to escape without losing.

Four weeks later, Del Rio did successfully cash in his contract and this time, it led to a three-way battle between him, Cena and Punk for the belt. Punk emerged as the winner and then went on to have his record breaking run.

#4 John Cena

John Cena is widely seen as the worst Money in the Bank winner. Why? Because instead of cashing in surprisingly (which is the purpose of the contract by the way), Cena announced when and where he wants his match.

He won the Money in the bank back in 2012 after defeating four other superstars and on the next edition of Raw, he announced that he wants his shot at the title at Raw 1000.

Punk was the reigning champion back then and Cena had intentions of breaking Punk’s record breaking run. It didn’t end well for the Cenation leader as the match ended in a disqualification after Big Show interfered.

#3 Jack Swagger

The Money in the bank win of Jack Swagger was nothing short of epic. The match itself involved ten superstars and getting out of there with the briefcase was not an easy task. Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, MVP, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Matt Hardy, Drew McIntyre, Christian, and Kane were the other superstars, in case you got curious.

Swagger cashed in his contract just two days later during the SmackDown tapings on Chris Jericho. Although Swagger became the champion, his reign was mostly uneventful and it did him no good on the longer run. He was soon dropped to the mid card and never quite recovered from there.

#2 Edge

During the last part of his career, Edge ended up getting the tag “The ultimate opportunist” and rightfully so. He was the first Money in the Bank briefcase holder and he got his chance once again in 2007 when he robbed Mr. Kennedy to take the briefcase.

Kennedy was injured in real-life and had to take time off, so they put the briefcase on the line.

Edge, who won the briefcase from Kennedy, wasted no time and cashed it in the next night itself against Undertaker. Taker was taken out by Mark Henry prior to the cash in and this helped Edge get the easy win.

Edge, however, suffered a tear in his pectoral muscle and had to forfeit the title just two months later. By winning the briefcase from Kennedy, Edge created two more records – he became the only man to win it twice and the first to do so outside the realm of the ladder match.

#1 Kane

Kane holds the record for the fasted Money in the Bank cash in and it’s a record that will be hard to break. Kane won the SmackDown Money in the Bank briefcase back in 2010 after he defeated the likes of Christian, Big Show, Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, and Dolph Ziggler.

It was a solid win for the Big Red Monster and just hours later on the same pay-per-view, Kane cashed in his contract on Rey Mysterio, who had won his title defense against Jack Swagger.

Kane won the World Heavyweight Championship after defeating Rey and went on to have a five-month reign with it before dropping.
