AJ Styles is undefeated at Clash of Champions

Clash of Champions has just nine matches on the card this year and every match is a championship bout. There could be some interesting title changes on Sunday night since Superstars like Zelina Vega and Jey Uso are competing for a singles titles for the first time.

Clash of Champions has historically seen some noteworthy title changes because every champion must defend their belt as part of this pay-per-view event. This year WWE will crown the first-ever undisputed Intercontinental Champion as part of the show because Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy both believe that they are the rightful champion.

There are just four pay-per-views left in 2020 so Clash of Champions could have some huge implications. After Friday's episode of SmackDown, it's clear that Roman Reigns isn't the only star who has a target on their back.

#5. Seth Rollins will miss Clash of Champions for the first time

Seth Rollins has attained several historic moments throughout his career. It's easy to see Clash of Champions, or Night of Champions as it was once called, as Seth Rollins' event.

Back in 2015, Rollins competed twice. While he lost the United States Championship to John Cena, he was able to retain the WWE Championship in Sting's final wrestling match.

Rollins then competed as part of Clash of Champions in 2016 when the show was a RAW exclusive before it returned in 2019 as a duel brand event. Last year, The Monday Night Messiah once again competed twice as he took on Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode alongside Braun Strowman to defend their RAW Tag Team Championship.

Later in the night, Rollins also successfully defended his Universal Championship against Strowman in the main event. This year, Rollins is embroiled in a feud with the Mysterio family which doesn't include a championship and so he won't appear on the card.

#4. Randy Orton could tie Triple H's record at Clash of Champions

Randy Orton will take on Drew McIntyre in an Ambulance match for the WWE Championship on Sunday night at Clash of Champions. A win for Orton could tie Triple H's record at the event.

Orton is already a 13-time world champion but he is just one win away from reaching The Game's record, which would put him in prime position to match John Cena and Ric Flair's record of 16 world title reigns.

Triple H, Ric Flair, and John Cena aren't currently active members of the WWE roster, which means that Orton is currently the most decorated active world champion. If he secures three more world championship wins before he retires, he will hold the record.

For now, The Viper has to find his way to get past Drew McIntyre to become a world champion for the first time since 2017. Interestingly, Randy Orton has never been in an Ambulance match even though he has already amassed a career that has spanned more than two decades. So, he could be out of his comfort zone at WWE Clash of Champions.

#3. Zelina Vega challenges for her first women's title at Clash of Champions

Zelina Vega was perhaps as shocked as anyone when she defeated Mickie James this past week on RAW. As a result, she won the right to challenge Asuka for the RAW Women's Championship for the first time at Clash of Champions.

Vega was initially Andrade's manager, as well as the woman who brought both Angel Garza and Austin Theory to the main roster in recent months. However, the star made the decision to move forward with her own career a few weeks ago.

Notably, this may be Zelina Vega's first WWE championship match. It's also Asuka's first match at Clash of Champions and the first time in a number of months that WWE has relegated the women's title to the kickoff show.

These factors could be enough for Vega to come out on top and win her first title with WWE. Asuka has quite the target on her back right now and this match won't likely end with a clean finish.

#2. AJ Styles is undefeated at Clash of Champions

AJ Styles will challenge Jeff Hardy and Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match at Clash of Champions. It seems like he could be the favorite to win even though he's the only competitor walking into the match without a title.

AJ Styles made his debut back at Clash of Champions in 2017. Over the past few years, he has been able to defeat Jinder Mahal in the main event and Cedric Alexander as a part of last year's kickoff show.

Styles has been at both ends of the card at Clash of Champions in the past and he has been victorious on both occasions. Still, he has never been in a ladder match at the event.

It will be interesting to see if The Phenomenal One will be able to recreate the image from SmackDown on Friday night when climbed the ladder and retrieve both belts. This time around he could become the undisputed Intercontinental Champion for the first time.

#1. Jey Uso will compete for the Universal title for the first time at Clash of Champions

It was quite the surprise a few weeks ago on SmackDown when Jey Uso won the right to challenge his cousin for the Universal Championship at Clash of Champions. Uso has been waiting for an opportunity since his brother tore his ACL back at WrestleMania 36. Unfortunately, Jimmy Uso will be sidelined until January.

Uso and Roman Reigns have grown up together. They know each other very well, so you can bet that this will be a compelling match. It will also be the highest level that Jey Uso has ever competed with the company.

Uso has never won a singles championship while his cousin has already won seven. Reigns have been at the top of the company since he made his main roster debut. Meanwhile, Uso has been a part of the tag division where he is considered to be one of the greatest tag team wrestlers.

Clash of Champions will be the biggest opportunity that Jey Uso has ever achieved. Even though there is a very slim chance that he will win, Jey Uso is still competing in the main event for a chance to become a world champion on Sunday night.
