WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 5 major things you missed from the PPV

Seth Rollins stood tall...until the end
Seth Rollins stood tall...until the end

WWE Clash of Champions 2019 is officially in the history books and we must admit that it wasn't exactly the best PPV. It was perhaps one of the most underwhelming ones this year, only behind Fastlane and Super ShowDown. But having 3 bad PPVs out of 9 in a year isn't so bad and WWE has kept a good track record with some low-key good programming as well.

The fact that the Wild Card rule is set to conclude means that there is a lot to look forward to. Brand exclusivity will return again and hopefully, we get a repeat of 2016 where the brand split works wonders for the superstars.

Either way, the pay-per-view may not have been great per se, but it does seem as though the direction after will be a promising one. Here are a few things you may have missed from Clash of Champions 2019.

#5 AJ Styles wrestling on the Kickoff show

While a few of you may have caught this, an overwhelming majority didn't, leaving them confused as to why AJ Styles wasn't on the card. It was only seen in a recap segment where they mentioned AJ Styles wrestling on the Kickoff show.

He was never scheduled to wrestle before the main card, but WWE probably thought that it would be a better idea for him to do so in order to garner interest. Whether that made much of a difference to viewership, we're not too sure. But with that said, it may not have been a bad idea.

The only issue was that the card was lacking as a whole in terms of match quality, so having Styles on the card would undoubtedly have been a big boost to the PPV.

#4 The Revival become the first Triple Crown Tag Team Champions

The Revival

While they aren't the first to do it individually, The Revival have become the first team to win the Triple Crown Tag Team titles - they've won the NXT Tag Team titles twice, the RAW Tag Team titles twice and completed it by becoming SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Chad Gable & Jason Jordan have done so too, but they won the RAW Tag Team titles with Bobby/Robert Roode and Seth Rollins respectively. It's an impressive feat as a team and it's crazy to think that this year alone, they've become Tag Team Champions thrice.

#3 A throwback spot to Sasha Banks vs Charlotte...in Charlotte

A throwback
A throwback

Remember the Sasha Banks-Charlotte Flair feud in 2016? It was arguably the rivalry of the year and the two women stole the show every time they were together. Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks proved to have equally good chemistry together and they had a nice throwback spot to three years ago.

It was the main event of RAW and it was a Falls Count Anywhere match. Sasha Banks defeated Flair in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina after hitting the Bank Statement against the railings.

They had a similar spot, this time with the dis-arm-her. It was a subtle throwback spot but a brilliant one nonetheless.

#2 Seth Rollins using the pedigree after two and a half years

A nice little touch
A nice little touch

One of the best things about Seth Rollins is that his character arc is easily one of the best in WWE, starting from his debut with The Shield in 2012. As you know, Triple H has been a big part of his career and so has the pedigree. He used it for a good part of two years, ending his use of it after he beat Triple H with the very move he invented.

It was a nice piece of storytelling in this case because Seth Rollins busted out over 3 curb stomps before desperately pulling out the pedigree. It suited his character and it was a brilliant little moment by Rollins and WWE. Subtle storytelling is the best.

#1 A small camera mistake at the end

Bray Wyatt shocked the world
Bray Wyatt shocked the world

This isn't anything really big per se, particularly because it happened in all but two seconds. The finale of the PPV was fantastic, with The Fiend Bray Wyatt announcing himself as the next Universal title challenger.

However, during the shot, WWE's camera crew messed up and cut to the wrong angle, showing another man with a camera right in front of his face. If you were to pause, it may have ruined the experience of the finale, but thankfully, that has been overlooked.
