WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 5 Superstars who desperately need to win

Who needs the win more?

WWE Clash of Champions 2019 is upon us tonight and we're all set to witness one of the most stacked cards of the year. We have two Women's title matches that will feature all 4 Horsewomen contending for the titles while the main event Superstars have to compete in one match.

It's Clash of Champions, which means that every single title must be defended. For better or worse, that doesn't seem to include the 24/7 Championship, but as long as R-Truth is present, it will be on the line regardless of where he is.

Either way, things are undoubtedly going to get really interesting. WWE has been on a string of holding some really solid PPVs and minus Super ShowDown, every PPV since WrestleMania has been fantastic. They're running on quite a nice PPV streak right now and fans will hope that it continues.

But in order for that to happen, the right people must win. There are a few Superstars who desperately need the win tonight, a lot more than others, and here's a look at them.

#5. Bayley

It hasn't even been two weeks, but the shock of Bayley's turn still remains. She was a Superstar who had never really been a heel in WWE, particularly on the main roster. Pegged by many as a lifelong babyface, all those claims were put to rest with a single strike of a chair to the back.

A newly-turned heel, Bayley has quite a bit of momentum on her side and will look to keep that going against Charlotte Flair. She has been a strong champion so far but undoubtedly faces her toughest challenge in months against The Queen.

Bayley needs the win a lot more than Charlotte Flair does and we have a feeling that Bayley will attempt to win by hook or crook.

#4. The Miz

WWE has a clear problem with booking babyfaces and that is never clearer than when you look at The Miz. He had a very organic face turn that worked out quite well and got the crowd genuinely behind him.

However, it didn't take long for that momentum to be killed off and it's only now that he's in title contention of some sorts. Moreover, he's challenging for a title that belongs to SmackDown while being a RAW superstar, so that doesn't particularly help his chances.

While he did have a good match against Andrade this past week on SmackDown Live where he picked up the victory, he hasn't really been made to look good in this feud. He's mostly been the victim of premeditated attacks and week after week, he has found himself staring at the ceiling while flat on his back.

While they may not have The Miz equal Chris Jericho's Intercontinental title record so easily, there's no doubt that he needs the win more than anyone. While Shinsuke Nakamura should ideally win, The Miz may need the title for some momentum going forward.

#3. Kofi Kingston

There's perhaps no match more important in terms of legacy tonight than Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton. The featured WWE Championship bout happens to be Kofi Kingston's toughest test since he won the title at WrestleMania 35 and he saw at SummerSlam just what lengths Orton is willing to go to get inside his head.

He hasn't shied away from admitting to the fact that he was responsible for holding Kingston's career back all those years. And as Kingston said: "It worked out well...until it didn't".

Kingston has truly proved that the cream will always rise to the top and his reign has been a spectacular showcase for him as a champion and wrestler in general. Kofi faces his biggest test yet in a rematch against Orton and there doesn't need to be any stipulation to add to the intensity. Expect a full-fledged grudge match and hopefully, Kingston comes out with the big win.

He certainly needs it a lot more than Orton does and if he does end up beating him, that alone will cement his title reign as a great one.

#2. Sasha Banks

Sasha Banks has been on fire!
Sasha Banks has been on fire!

Sasha Banks has returned with a huge chip on her shoulder. We hadn't seen her since WrestleMania 35 and it was revealed that she was simply too burned out and needed a break. Fair play to her.

When she did return on the RAW after SummerSlam, the excitement was palpable. Fans were happy to see her back but she didn't just return - she bought back the nasty 2015 Sasha Banks with her.

That can only help her and her character progress more and it's clear that this is Becky Lynch's most important match since WrestleMania 35. Her prior contenders haven't been on her level, so it's good to see a Superstar who is for a change. Banks may have Bayley's help to assist her and given her history with Lynch, Banks may very well have the edge too.

With that being said, Banks needs the win more than anybody. What she can't afford now is a clean loss because it'll ruin her momentum. It either has to be a win for her, or a finish that will extend the rivalry to Hell in a Cell. One thing is for sure - come October 6th, Sasha Banks should be RAW Women's Champion.

#1. Braun Strowman

In all likelihood, we know what the outcome of the match will be. Seth Rollins is just coming off a huge, clean victory over Brock Lesnar, so does it make sense to lose to Strowman a little over a month later? Probably not.

Moreover, it's clear that WWE is establishing Seth Rollins as the face of Monday Night RAW and to do that, they need to make him look as strong as possible. Back-to-back PPV wins over Lesnar and Strowman would be a huge boost to his run and would give him all the momentum in the world.

However, Strowman does need the win more, all said and done. Every single time he has challenged for the Universal title, he has fallen short and along with that, his momentum has always fallen as well.

If Strowman does lose, which in all likelihood, he will, it's going to be another rough few months for The Monster Among Men. If he does inevitably lose, then it's best if WWE finds the best possible way to protect him, perhaps by having Bray Wyatt involved in the bout as well. Either way, it's going to be interesting!
