WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 8 currently active top Superstars who have been surprisingly left off the card

WWE's next major PPV - Clash of Champions - is just days away and the excitement could not be higher. The PPV will see all of the current WWE Championships be defended on the show and an exciting plethora of matches have been announced.

However, everything has a flip-side and while we will get to watch extraordinary talents perform at the grand stage, there are also a lot of established Superstars who will not be a part of the event.

Before we start the list, I would like to give a special mention to Ali, Rey Mysterio, Andrade, Natalya and Sami Zayn who will not be seen competing at Clash of Champions:

#8 Drew McIntyre

The Scottish Psychopath is not having a dream run like many had initially imagined for him. While backstage reports stated time and again that the former IC Champion is high on WWE's list of Superstars to push, unfortunately, he has been nothing more than a lackey for the most part of his stint.

McIntyre won't be able to compete at the Clash of Champions PPV as the Superstar has undergone minor surgery for his recurring injury issues.

#7 Ricochet

Another top Superstar that the WWE Management as well as the WWE Universe is high on but won't be part of the Clash of Champions this Sunday is Ricochet.

The former US Champion was unable to make it to the finals of the KOTR tournament as he lost to Baron Corbin in the first-ever triple threat match in the tournament. Reports suggest that Paul Heyman is very 'high' on the former NXT North American Champion, who will likely get a push after Clash of Champions.

#6 Samoa Joe

Another Superstar who was part of the triple threat semi-final match on RAW was Samoa Joe. Much like Ricochet, even Joe finds himself without a match for Clash of Champions.

Considering the experience and talent possessed by Joe, it is quite perplexing as to why WWE does not use him to his full potential; they have mostly used him as an enhancement talent at this point.

Even though Joe is a contemporary of AJ Styles, it must be noted that the Phenomenal One has truly left the Samoan behind.

#4 and #5 Baron Corbin and Chad Gable

Baron Corbin and Chad Gable have managed to reach the finals of the KOTR Tournament; unfortunately, they still could not make it to the Clash of Champions card.

While WWE had initially advertised the finals of the tournament to take place at the PPV, they decided to move the match to next week's edition of Monday Night RAW. It is a bit underwhelming that WWE would choose to have the finals of this coveted tournament (which was once a PPV itself) on free television.

#3 and #2 Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon

Kevin Owens has been embroiled in a bitter rivalry with Shane McMahon on SmackDown. While it certainly seemed like the two would square off soon, a shocking turn of events on SmackDown (Shane McMahon fired Kevin Owens) has dashed all hopes for that match.

While Owens has teased moving to NXT, for now, it is quite certain that a match between the two sworn enemies will take place in the future - it just won't happen at Clash of Champions, unfortunately.

#1 Daniel Bryan

While Daniel Bryan continues to be one of the most important Superstars on the WWE roster, this is the second consecutive PPV he will not be competing on.

Speculation suggested that the reason both Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan did not compete at SummerSlam was that WWE wanted more time to build their feud. However, it seems that the company has decided to go in a different direction as The Big Dog will be facing Bryan's former associate Erick Rowan at Clash of Champions while Bryan watches from the sidelines.
