WWE Crown Jewel 2019: 5 Impressive stats coming out of the history-making show

It was a history-making night at Crown Jewel

Crown Jewel was easily the best show that WWE has ever presented from Saudi Arabia and not only did the show deliver, it also made history a number of times throughout the night. Not only did the women compete in the first-ever female's match in the history of Saudi Arabia, but also Tyson Fury became the first boxer to wrestle in the country as well.

Mansoor made his singles debut in a winning effort against Cesaro whilst the 24/7 Championship became the first title to change hands twice in the same night in the Middle Eastern country. The OC are now The Best Tag Team in the World and AJ Styles managed to retain his United States Champion in a fantastic match against Humberto Carrillo who made his debut and competed twice in one night as part of last night's show.

As already stated, it was a stacked affair that lasted almost five hours and created some impressive stats as part of the show.

#5. Shortest match in Saudi Arabia

Brock Lesnar retained his WWE Championship last night when he was finally able to get revenge on Cain Velasquez, the man who defeated him in the Octagon nine years before. Velasquez has only recently made the switch over to wrestling and signed a deal with WWE ahead of the match whilst also announcing that he had retired from MMA.

Lesnar and Velasquez locked up for the first time in a wrestling ring last night in Saudi Arabia and this time it was Lesnar who came out on to when he forced Velasquez to tap to the Kimura Lock. The match lasted just 88 seconds which makes it the shortest match that has taken place in the country over the past two years since WWE's partnership with Saudi Arabia began.

#4. The New Day reunite

Xavier Woods suffered an achilles injury at a house show as part of the Australian tour around a week ago, which meant that former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has been drafted in to take over in the team with Big E.

Kofi Kingston had been dominating the singles divisions over the past year, which could be why Woods and Big E have been the ones representing the group in tag team matches throughout 2019.

Heading into this year's Crown Jewel, Big E and Woods were expected to once again represent the New Day, but the injury forced Kofi Kingston to sub in. This is interesting because the last time that Kingston and Big E teamed together was as part of last year's Crown Jewel event.

This shows just how much WWE has been pushing Kingston over the past year since he won the WWE Championship back in April and only lost it to Brock Lesnar around a month ago. This is something that WWE and Kingston himself are yet to address on WWE TV, whilst Brock Lesnar continues to defend the Championship that he won in a matter of seconds on October 4th when SmackDown made the move over to FOX.

#3. The Viking Raiders suffer their first loss

The largest tag team turmoil tournament took place last night in Saudi Arabia as nine teams battled it out in the gauntlet style match that would see the winner crowned The Best Tag Team in the World. Interestingly, the match came down to The OC and The Viking Raiders.

It was quite a shock when The Viking Raiders were pinned for the first time in their WWE career at the hands of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson so that The OC could be named the Best Tag Team in the World.

The Viking Raiders surrendered their NXT Tag Team Championships so that they could move to the main roster without having to lose a match. These were then vacated and put on the line at the Takeover that followed and Erik and Ivor have since been able to retain their undefeated record over the past few months.

It was thought that they would become the next big undefeatable team after AOP's push didn't go to plan, but instead, they surrendered their record in Saudi Arabia and it's assumed that they will now step into a feud with The OC following the loss.

#2. Brock Lesnar is undefeated in Saudi Arabia

Brock Lesnar managed to defeat perhaps one of the biggest challengers of his career in Cain Velasquez last night at Crown Jewel, especially since Velasquez was the only man in the world who had the mental advantage over Brock Lesnar because he has been able to defeat him in a real UFC match.

Velasquez became the third victim of The Beast in The Middle East, which gives him the best record of any WWE star who has made more than two trips out to Saudi Arabia. Lesnar has managed to defeat some of the fiercest opposition enroute to this record. Roman Reigns failed to tear the WWE Championship away from the Beast Incarnate inside a steel cage at The Greatest Royal Rumble last year to retain the Universal Championship. Lesnar then reclaimed the title at Crown Jewel last year when he defeated Braun Strowman.

Earlier this year, Brock made the trip to the Middle East but was unable to cash in his Money in the Bank contract. AJ Styles has the record closest to Brock's since he's won two matches and lost one in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

#1. Bray Wyatt joins an exclusive club

Unless you're a wrestling fan who is avoiding spoilers and living under a rock, you will be aware that The Fiend Bray Wyatt was able to finally defeat Seth Rollins last night at Crown Jewel to become Universal Champion after just three matches as The Fiend.

Bray Wyatt defeated the Architect by pinfall in his Falls Count Anywhere match, and the Universal Championship now becomes the character's first title, even though it isn't Wyatt's. The former Wyatt Family patriarch was able to lift the WWE Championship back at Elimination Chamber in 2017 before losing it to Randy Orton at WrestleMania and being denied a rematch.

This history means that Wyatt joins an exclusive club of just four members when it comes to stars who have lifted both the WWE and Universal Championships. Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns are the only other men who have been able to achieve this feat in their careers, but the Universal Championship has only been Raw's exclusive Championship since 2016 so this club is expected to get much more crowded in the future.
