WWE Crown Jewel 2019: 5 Interesting stats and facts every fan needs to know

There are some interesting facts heading into Crown Jewel
There are some interesting facts heading into Crown Jewel

WWE's roster has already made the trip out to the Middle East ahead of tomorrow's Crown Jewel event, the second under this name and the fourth trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that WWE has made since their debut in Jeddah for The Greatest Royal Rumble back in April 2018.

This year's show will see Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury make their official WWE debut and is also the first time since The Greatest Royal Rumble that WWE doesn't have a single WWE Hall of Famer performing as part of the show.

WWE has instead decided to look to the future and allow a number of new faces to make their debut in the Middle East which includes Super ShowDown battle royal winner Mansoor making his singles debut against Cesaro.

It's all change for this year's Crown Jewel and here are some of the best facts and stats heading into the show.

#5 Not a single star from the original Crown Jewel main event returns

Crown Jewel made its debut last November and featured the first ever WWE World Cup, which was won by Shane McMahon, who defeated The Miz in the final. It's interesting to note that not only are neither of these stars part of tomorrow night's show, but neither is the Hall of Fame cast that made up the main event.

The Undertaker, Kane, Shawn Michaels and Triple H all made up the main event as D-Generation X took on The Brothers of Destruction in a winning effort, but none of these stars have been asked to return. Currently, Triple H is busy with NXT's live events on USA, Michaels already stated that he doesn't want to wrestle another match, and Kane is the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee.

#4 WWE's first trip to Saudi Arabia without The Undertaker

Undertaker will not be part of Crown Jewel
Undertaker will not be part of Crown Jewel

Despite being advertised as part of the show since it was announced and already making the trip out to the Middle East alongside Vince McMahon, The Undertaker will not be part of this trip to Saudi Arabia for the first time.

At The Greatest Royal Rumble, Undertaker took on Rusev in a Casket Match where he was victorious before he lost the match where Brothers of Destruction took on D-Generation X at the first Crown Jewel event. Taker reprised his place on the card for Super ShowDown earlier this year when he took on Goldberg in what was a shocking main event, but he has made the decision not to be part of this show.

The Deadman mentioned on Twitter earlier this year that he was not needed for SmackDown's 20th Anniversary show when they made the move over to FOX and it's thought that the same thing could have happened here. WWE has decided to focus on matches for Cain Velasquez and Tyson Fury and despite being promoted ahead of the show, it appears that The Undertaker was overlooked and then left without a match.

#3 Second Team Hogan vs Team Flair match

This isn't the first Team Hogan vs Team Flair match

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are already in Saudi Arabia ahead of their match tomorrow night, after Hogan was forced to board Brock Lesnar's private jet when his made an unscheduled landing in Iceland. Luckily both Hogan and Jimmy Hart got to the Middle East safely and now look forward to a showdown with Ric Flair for the second time.

Even though this is the first Team Hogan vs Team Flair match that has been presented by WWE, this was performed almost a decade ago by Impact Wrestling as part of Lockdown in 2010. Team Flair consisted of AJ Styles, Desmond Wolfe, Robert Roode, James Storm, and Flair whilst Team Hogan included the immortal one himself, Abyss, Jeff Hardy, Jeff Jarrett, and Rob Van Dam.

Team Hogan picked up the win as part of that year's Lockdown, but will the result be the same this year when Hogan and Flair watch on from the sidelines as Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, King Corbin, and Drew McIntyre take on Roman Reigns, Shorty G, Rusev, Ali and Ricochet in a five on five tag team match.

#2 First-ever women's match in Saudi Arabia

It was announced as part of the Crown Jewel media event by Michael Cole earlier today that the first-ever Women's match will take place in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Lacey Evans will take on Natalya in what is considered one of the biggest steps for the Women's Revolution in recent years.

The women of WWE first made their breakthrough in Saudi Arabia when Renee Young was given the green light to perform behind the commentary desk as part of last year's Crown Jewel. Back in June, both Natalya and Alexa Bliss made the trip with their male counterparts in the hopes that the company could convince the Saudi Arabian authorities or GSA to allow them to compete, but this wasn't the case and sadly they were forced to watch on the sidelines once again.

This time around, Renee Young won't be behind the commentary desk so instead, Lacey Evans and Natalya will be given their time to shine in the ring. As well as these two women, Lana made the trip to the Middle East, so it will be interesting to see what role she will play in the show.

#1 Four WWE stars have performed in Saudi Arabia under two different names

Bray Wyatt returns to The Middle East tomorrow night as The Fiend
Bray Wyatt returns to The Middle East tomorrow night as The Fiend

Tomorrow night The Fiend will compete for the Universal Championship in the first-ever Falls Count Anywhere match in Saudi Arabia, but it will also be the second time that Bray Wyatt has competed in the country under a different character.

Wyatt has competed as himself and now as The Fiend, which means he will be the first person to have competed both with and without a mask, but the likes of Finn Balor, Baron Corbin, and Chad Gable have also competed with different names.

At The Greatest Royal Rumble Finn Balor performed as himself before later returning for Super ShowDown earlier this year as The Demon, Baron Corbin originally performed as himself in 2018 and will now return to the country as King Corbin. Chad Gable was once known by this original name and will now compete in the five-on-five match tomorrow night as Shorty G.

By the time WWE ends their 10 year deal with The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it will be interesting to see just how many stars have performed under different gimmicks and different names.
