WWE Crown Jewel: 3 Reasons why Brock Lesnar will retain his WWE Championship

'The Beast' will defend his WWE Title against Cain Velasquez
'The Beast' will defend his WWE Title against Cain Velasquez

To ensure that SmackDown's debut on FOX became an unforgettable experience, WWE booked several great segments and matches for the show. During the main event, Brock Lesnar faced Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship in a squash match, where he defeated Kingston in a mere 10 seconds. Following his victory, Cain Velasquez and Rey Mysterio came out to confront Lesnar.

Lesnar had attacked Mysterio and his son Dominick only a few days before on RAW, and it was clear that he was going to pay for it, sooner or later. Velasquez laid his hands on 'The Beast' as soon as he entered the ring and then WWE made it official. Both Superstars would be facing each other for the WWE Championship at the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view.

Velasquez is the same person who beat the current WWE Champion in 2010 at UFC 121 for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. Looking at current circumstances, there may be some twists during this bout, but Lesnar is likely to win the match. Here are 3 reasons why we think so.

#3 Brock Lesnar won't lose his title this early

Brock Lesnar is different from any other wrestler in WWE. He's the only Superstar who can get away with almost anything backstage. He also reportedly garners a great deal of trust from WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

'The Beast' just won the WWE Championship and looking at the duration of his previous title reigns, don't expect Lesnar to lose his belt this soon. Yes, he did lose the Universal Championship to Seth Rollins at SummerSlam in just 28 days, but the entire angle was probably pulled off just to get Lesnar to SmackDown and the WWE Championship. Lesnar will likely win this match at Crown Jewel, either clean or in some other way.

Lesnar will be in WWE for quite some time and since he rarely works in matches that aren't for a world championship, he is probably going to retain in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Look for 'The Beast' to continue defending his WWE Championship for the foreseeable future.

#2 Cain Velasquez's inexperience in the ring

Cain Velasquez is undoubtedly a UFC legend, however, he is inexperienced in the world of professional wrestling. With his in-ring wrestling career beginning only months ago, Velasquez has only participated in two matches so far (both for AAA Wrestling). Yet, he's still challenging for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel. Even if we assume that Velasquez would win the title in Saudi Arabia against one of the most dominant Superstars in WWE history in Brock Lesnar, a question comes to mind. How would he even work as a champion?

Velasquez hasn't spent a lot of time in the ring and has shown that he isn't exactly stellar at cutting promos. This makes for a less than ideal world champion.

The former UFC Champion is the babyface in this rivalry and an early title victory in WWE could also turn the fans against him, as some still consider him an undeserving 'outsider'. It would be wise if Velasquez spends some time in the ring and garners more experience before challenging for the WWE Championship again. This way a potential championship win will seem legitimate and the fans won't have a negative reaction. We'll have to wait until Crown Jewel to see if Vince McMahon feels the same way.

#1 'The Beast' will lead SmackDown on FOX - Could Velasquez lead RAW?

Even though Cain Velasquez is a huge name in WWE, he isn't at the same level as Brock Lesnar. FOX specifically requested Lesnar on the Blue brand and the company got what it wanted. Lesnar is a major name in both MMA and the wrestling world. It simply makes sense to have him lead the sports-oriented SmackDown, at least for the time being.

Lesnar is exactly the kind of wrestler WWE needs to make SmackDown a more sports-oriented show and his mere presence should be a force when it comes to television ratings.

As previously addressed, Velasquez is still an unknown name for a major part of the WWE Universe and it would be wise if Vince McMahon allows him to first build a strong reputation and then win a title as prestigious as the WWE Championship.

Furthermore, RAW now lacks a big name (since Lesnar's on SmackDown) and it would be a fantastic decision if WWE moves Velasquez over to the Red brand in order to build him as a top competitor there.
