WWE Crown Jewel: 5 Reasons why Vince won't allow Cain Velasquez to defeat Brock Lesnar

A rematch nine years in the making!
A rematch nine years in the making!

Wow! Did you imagine reading this news a couple of weeks ago that Crown Jewel 2019 in Saudi Arabia would witness the WWE Champion Brock Lesnar defending his title against the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez?

Yes, that's exactly how crazy the last few weeks have been for the company as we have witnessed some major changes in every aspect of WWE programming. It was on the debut episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX where the Beast Incarnate decimated Kofi Kingston in just 8 seconds to win the title, but what followed next was something no one was expecting!

After the vicious attack by Lesnar on Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik on the season premiere of RAW, Mysterio came back with massive backup in the form of the guy who defeated Lesnar inside the UFC Octagon in a first-round TKO and took away his UFC Heavyweight title.

After a week of speculation, the company has finally announced a match between the two at the upcoming Saudi Arabia PPV with the WWE Championship on the line. But will Vince McMahon allow Cain Velasquez to defeat his Beast inside a WWE ring? In this article, I present to you five reasons why he won't!

#5 It's most probably another big-money match to attract the Saudi crowd

Ever since Cain made his debut on SmackDown last week, there was a lot of speculation as to when would WWE book this mega match between these two supreme athletes. With even WrestleMania 36 being considered as an option by some fans, WWE decided to throw a curveball by announcing the match for Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in less than three weeks from now.

Another blockbuster match announced for the show is that between Braun Strowman and the boxing star Tyson Fury. One can't help but notice the company's attempts to get more mainstream attention towards the product, which makes it more unlikely for Lesnar to lose the title to Cain. The match might just be a big-money bout planned to attract the Saudi crowd as well as international viewers.

#4 It's revenge time for the Beast Incarnate

The entire story for Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez in WWE has been about Cain being the one man who has dominated Lesnar and who Brock has not yet "conquered". In the press conference before SmackDown, where the match for Crown Jewel was officially announced, the Beast Incarnate took to the mic to describe how he's been waiting for this moment for the last ten years.

The narrative is that while Mysterio has brought Cain to avenge Lesnar's attack on him and his son Dominik, Lesnar is equally hungry to get revenge on Cain for the scar that he left on his eye during their famous fight at UFC 121 in October 2010.

While Brock is supposed to be the heel in this storyline, the way Cain has dominated him makes him look very vulnerable. Add to that his promo during the press conference, and you can't help but sympathize a little with the WWE Champion.

It is indeed personal for Lesnar, as unlike WWE matches, UFC fights are not scripted, and the loss to Cain in 2010 did hurt his legitimacy for real. Another loss, even though scripted, might leave a big mark in the otherwise successful career of his. Will Vince allow someone to do that to his Champion?

#3 Vince won't bury his guy

Lesnar has continuously been at the top of the WWE mountain!
Lesnar has continuously been at the top of the WWE mountain!

There have been numerous instances in WWE of people from other industries stepping inside the squared circle to challenge WWE Superstars, and though few them have come out victorious, it was not against one of the top guys in the company.

Even someone like Ronda Rousey was not allowed to go over the home-star Charlotte at last year's Survivor Series showdown between the two. While someone like Braun Strowman might once be considered to put over Tyson Fury, it's very tough to imagine Vince McMahon allowing Brock to do the same for Cain Velasquez.

Brock Lesnar has been one of the top guys in the company ever since he broke the famous streak of the Undertaker in 2014. Currently, in his 8th World title reign, Vince has allowed him to go over many of the top Superstars such as John Cena and Roman Reigns, to name a few.

A victory for Cain would mean that Brock's title reign would end in less than 30 days and would also see the veteran being completely dominated by someone who's still an outsider to the pro-wrestling community. Do you think Vince would bury his guy for the sake of a former UFC Heavyweight Champion? There would still have been some chance of him doing it, but there's one thing that would not let him do that. Which is...

#2 Too soon for Cain to become the WWE Champion

One of the biggest reasons why I believe that Cain Velasquez won't defeat Brock Lesnar at the upcoming PPV is because the WWE Championship is on the line. As mentioned in the previous slide, Vince would have still considered letting Lesnar put over the UFC fighter, but that would mean that we would have Cain Velasquez heading into this year's Survivor Series as the WWE Champion. That sounds a little weird, doesn't it? You can't have the man win the WWE title in his first match for the company.

If WWE continues the RAW vs SmackDown theme for Survivor Series, it would result in us getting a Cain Velasquez vs Seth Rollins main event for the show (assuming Rollins remains the champion till then as he does not have a championship match scheduled for Crown Jewel). As someone who isn't necessarily a huge fan of UFC, this match doesn't seem like a legit main event, as the two don't have any history.

With Lesnar set to be a major player on Friday Night SmackDown, what would he do if he lost the match and his championship to Cain at Crown Jewel? Would he just sit idle and accept Cain's dominance over himself? That's not the Beast Incarnate that we know. Moreover, would that mean no further advancement in his storyline with Rey Mysterio and his son, since they got their revenge?

#1 A Lesnar victory could set up a major debut for Dominik

Amongst the hype of a sequel of Lesnar vs Velasquez, we have forgotten the reason it all started! Two weeks ago on the season premiere episode of Monday Night RAW, Brock Lesnar ruthlessly decimated Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik, with the latter one being carried out in an ambulance from the arena.

On the following week on the debut episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX, just moments after Lesnar won the WWE Championship from Kofi Kingston, Mysterio's music hit, and out came the Master of the 619 with a monstrous-looking guy, Cain Velasquez.

If Cain manages to defeat Lesnar at Crown Jewel, the question would be whether Rey and Dominik would be satisfied with that. There are rumors that Dominik has officially signed with WWE and would be making his in-ring debut soon. The company has a great opportunity to launch him with a bang with a program against Lesnar.

In all likelihood, Rey Mysterio would accompany Cain at ringside during his match against Lesnar. What if Cain is unsuccessful in stopping the Beast this time, which results in Lesnar first destroying him and then launching another attack on Mysterio? That would be the perfect time for Dominik to run-in and make a save. Imagine the pop that he would get if that happens!
