WWE Draft 2019: 5 finishes to Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns - The Fiend to be top pick, huge character change

What a mE
What a match!

The WWE Draft returns for the first time in three years. There's a whole lot of buzz and excitement because we will officially see the conclusion of the Wild Card rule as SmackDown begins. Goodbye Wild Card, hello brand exclusivity!

We're really happy that this is the direction WWE has chosen to go in. What's more interesting is that according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Network executives from the USA Network and FOX have a direct hand in this draft and which superstar goes where.

Naturally, each network will want the biggest stars possible to get the ratings, but ultimately, it lies in WWE's hands. But there hasn't been a time like this where Networks have such direct control over the product.

Either way, the first match of the Draft will feature RAW's Seth Rollins take on SmackDown's Roman Reigns. The winner of the match will determine which brand gets the first overall draft pick. Here are a few finishes for the match-up.

#5. Seth Rollins wins clean, Brock Lesnar becomes the #1 draft pick for RAW

Brock Lesnar, as much as we hate to say it, has the highest chance of being the overall #1 draft pick, especially now that he is the WWE Champion. He was reportedly supposed to be the #1 draft pick in 2016 as well but due to the fact that he popped for a banned substance by USADA following his UFC 200 fight, he wasn't exactly in the best spot from a PR perspective.

Seth Rollins was a direct beneficiary of that, becoming the overall #1 draft pick followed by then-WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. In all likeliness, we could see a very competitive match between Reigns and Rollins which sees the Universal Champion pin Reigns. As a result, it would set up Lesnar's move to RAW.

#4. Roman Reigns wins, setting up a Universal title feud down the line

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are both babyfaces so we'll be seeing all the handshakes and hugs post and pre-match. It would be really interesting if WWE decided to have Reigns go over the Universal Champion clean.

It's been a while since Roman Reigns has had that big victory but that seems to be by design since he isn't being as heavily featured and pushed as he used to. If he did beat Seth Rollins clean, which he has before, then it could set them up for a future Universal title feud, granted both superstars end up on the same brand.

It's a bit difficult to imagine a scenario where Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are in the same brand. It would seem a bit unequal since they're clearly now the two biggest full-time babyfaces in WWE.

It would likely mean a switch to RAW for Reigns, but that seems a bit too soon.

#3. The Fiend costs Seth Rollins, becomes the #1 Draft pick for SmackDown

Bray Wyatt could make a statement
Bray Wyatt could make a statement

The Fiend has been very silent since the controversial Hell in a Cell match. Like Seth Rollins, he didn't appear on Monday Night RAW and it was probably for the best. However, that doesn't mean that his storyline with Seth Rollins is done as of yet.

Perhaps they still don't want to get the title on him, so he appears mid-match and attacks Seth Rollins, allowing Roman Reigns to pick up the victory inadvertently. It would either continue the storyline or put an end to it.

It could also mean that The Fiend would be the #1 overall draft pick. Now that would be a very bold and shocking move to make, but one that WWE fans would consider a welcome surprise.

It's easy to pick the champions and top babyfaces as #1, but if Bray Wyatt were picked in that spot, it would be clear that WWE truly intends to push him to the top. Would you like to see Wyatt as the #1 pick?

#2. Seth Rollins loses, starting a downward spiral

Seth Rollins could end up losing clean and it can be a good part of the story and one that's very important for character development. There's no doubt that overall, Seth Rollins has had one of the best character arcs over the last 5 years.

However, he has lost quite a bit of steam in between both Universal Championship reigns and WWE needs to look for different ways to get fans invested in him again as their top babyface. There is still a big story to tell with him as a face and as of now, things look like they're spiraling downwards for The Architect.

What he needs is a downward spiraling storyline where he loses matches, even non-title ones. It doesn't mean that he has to lose every match, but Roman Reigns is the perfect opponent to tell the story of him not being on the level that he should be as the Universal Champion.

Fans want to see some real character development and this match is perfect for that.

#1. Seth Rollins cheats to win, starting a new character arc

Could Seth Rollins go inside the depths of hell again?
Could Seth Rollins go inside the depths of hell again?

While Seth Rollins having to lose and starting a downward spiral is a great concept, we find this one more interesting. What if Seth Rollins cheats to beat Roman Reigns? It's one thing to see him cheat. But to see him desperately use underhanded tactics against his Shield Brother would make for a great storyline.

Not only does this mean that they can run Rollins vs Reigns at some point, but it adds a whole new layer to Seth Rollins' character. We haven't seen him unleash that heel side of his for the last 3 years or more and if he did, it would add a whole new level of interest.

It would add that much-needed edge to his character and he doesn't even need to turn heel. It can be more of an ode to his past tendencies and looking back at who he was. When he was a top heel, he would find every possible short-cut to get the victory. The workhorse Rollins chooses the other, harder way to get around it but gets it done. But after a point, that gets boring. Rollins cheating to win makes a lot more sense.
