WWE Fastlane 2017: 5 Rumors you need to know

WWE Fastlane is the last PPV on the road to Wrestlemania

We’re just a couple of days away from the last PPV before Wrestlemania 33, WWE Fastlane. The Fastlane card is pretty stacked and features Goldberg challenging for a WWE championship for the first time in over a decade when he challenges Kevin Owens in the main-event for the WWE Universal Championship. The card also features Roman Reigns facing the “The monster among men” Braun Strowman.

Bayley will defend her RAW Women’s Championship for the first time against 4-time champion Charlotte as Charlotte bides to win back what she believes is rightfully hers. The RAW Tag-Team titles and the RAW Cruiserweight Championship will also be defends as Enzo-Cass and Jack Gallagher challenge The Club and Neville respectively.

Fastlane will also feature Samoa Joe’s first PPV match since his promotion to the main roster. Joe will face Sami Zayn, in a match that is sure to be a contender for match of the night.

Also on the card, we have “The Boss” Sasha Banks taking on the dominant Nia Jax. On the pre-show, the Cruiserweight Division brings a tag-team match as Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa team up to face Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar.

The rumor mill has been on fire in the lead up to Fastlane. Let’s take a look at some of the most pertinent rumors ahead of Sunday’s PPV.

Multiple title changes expected?

Multiple title changes at WWE Fastlane?

According to multiple sources, including Cageside Seats, we can expect at least one or two title changes at Fastlane. Although details on which titles could change hands hasn’t been specified, it is expected that the Universal Championship and the Raw Women’s Championship are the favourites to change hands.

As far as the betting odds are concerned, they back up the fact that Goldberg and Charlotte are favourites to win their respective matches.

Undertaker to appear and set up Wrestlemania match with Roman Reigns?

Will Undertaker cost Roman Reigns at Fastlane?

Roman Reigns will face Braun Strowman this Sunday at Fastlane in one of the marquee matches on the the card. How will the “guy” fare against the “monster amongst men”? The match itself should be a slobber knocker with both guys coming at each other with whatever they’ve got.

However, even though the match will be an all out brawl, some of the latest rumours suggest that the mattch may end in a non-finish. As per latest reports, there’s a significant chance that The Undertaker will appear near the end of the Reigns-Strowman match to set up his Wrestlemania match with Reigns, the seeds of which were sown during the 2017 Royal Rumble.

Strowman has been on a roll since the brand-split while Roman is always one of the best booked wrestlers in WWE. Both of them need to be kept strong and having Undertaker interfere is probably the best vehicle to do it.

Charlotte wins back the RAW Women's Championship

Bayley will defend her title for the first time at Fastlane

Bayley won the RAW Women's Championship from Charlotte on the Feb 13th episode of RAW in Las Vegas. Dana Brooke and Sasha Banks' interferences led to Bayley winning the championship for herself and "The Queen" has been beside herself since losing her precious title.

This Sunday will see Bayley defend her title for the first time and the rumor mill are predicting an unhappy evening for the hugster. Although no details are clear, multiple sources are reporting that Charlotte will win and continue her PPV streak.

Charlotte's win probably won't be clean and could lead to a Fatal-4-Way match at Wrestlemania involving Charlotte, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax.

Samoa Joe strolls to victory on PPV debut

Sami Zayn has an uphill battle ahead of him

Samoa Joe attacked Sami Zayn on RAW and choked him out to set up this match, which will also be Joe’s first PPV match since his main roster debut. While these two are two of the best performers in WWE right now, fans shouldn’t expect this match too last too long because rumours suggest that the match could end quickly to continue Joe’s monster push.

After a breif back and forth battle, expect Samoa Joe to take control and choke Zayn out in a decisive manner. Will we get a rematch between the two at ‘Mania so Zayn can get his momentum back? Probably not.

Neville to retain at Fastlane

Neville faces Jack Gallagher at Fastlane

Neville will face Jack Gallagher at WWE Fastlane and the betting odds suggest that Neville is an overwhelming favourite to retain his title at WWE Fastlane as he builds up to a potential ‘Mania match against Austin Aries.

An interesting point to not in this regard, that hasn’t really been mentioned yet, is that WWE Fastlane is being held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which is also the hometown of Austin Aries. Aries will be at Fastlane as part of the commentary team which leads us to believe that there is some chance that Aries and Neville could come face-to-face after Neville’s match with Gallagher to sow the seeds of the Wrestlemania match.

Aries has been declared fit from the injury he suffered from a slightly botched Kinshasa by Shinsuka Nakamura and will make his main roster debut sooner, rather than later.
