WWE Fastlane 2019: 3 matches which could main event the pay-per-view

Will The Shield main event a WWE pay-per-view for one last time?
Will The Shield main event a WWE pay-per-view for one last time?

The last WWE pay-per-view on the Road to WrestleMania 35 is just 4 days away which means we are just 4 days away from witnessing the best Fastlane pay-per-view in WWE history.

This edition's Fastlane match card looks way superior to the ones we had seen earlier. The match for WWE Fastlane 2019 is as follows -

  1. WWE Championship -- Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kevin Owens
  2. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair
  3. The Shield vs. Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin & Bobby Lashley
  4. SmackDown Women's Championship -- Asuka (c) vs. Mandy Rose
  5. SmackDown Tag Team Championship -- The Usos (c) vs. The Miz & Shane McMahon
  6. Women's Tag Team Championship -- Boss 'N Hug Connection (c) vs. Nia Jax & Tamina
  7. Raw Tag Team Championship -- The Revival (c) vs. Aleister Black & Ricochet vs. Bobby Roode & Chad Gable
  8. Rey Mysterio vs. Andrade (Kickoff Show)

The matches announced for the show will be high quality and even the kick-off show match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade is expected to deliver.

However, it would be interesting to see which match the WWE Creative team chooses to close the show. Here are the top 3 candidates -

#3 Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch

Will WWE give Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch another pay-per-view main event?
Will WWE give Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch another pay-per-view main event?

Of late, the RAW Women's Championship feud has become the focal point on both RAW and SmackDown Live. All the weekly episodes on the road to Fastlane featured Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. This shows the high expectations that the WWE Creative team has from this feud, also involving Ronda Rousey.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet turned heel last Monday and that has just increased the excitement for this singles match. While Becky is pencilled in to win this match, it would be great if this happens in the closing segment of the pay-per-view.

#2 The Shield vs Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin

Surprisingly, Elias is not a part of this match-up
Surprisingly, Elias is not a part of this match-up

With the Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose set to leave the company, it is clear that the Creative team wants a final Shield reunion at Fastlane. The Shield has been one of the most popular factions in WWE history and it makes sense to reunite them one final time before the most underused member of the group leaves WWE.

However, the one thing which has surprised me is the absence of Elias from this match. The Drifter was the main rival of Dean Ambrose in this feud and I expected a 3-on-4 handicap match between the two groups at Fastlane.

Perhaps, the WWE did not insert Elias in this match because they wanted the top 3 faces of the roster to lock horns with only the top 3 heels of RAW in the main event of Fastlane. With the likes of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in this match, this tag team battle can easily main-event the pay-per-view.

#1 Daniel Bryan (c) vs Kevin Owens for the WWE Championship

After all, Vince McMahon himself made this match-up
After all, Vince McMahon himself made this match-up

Daniel Bryan was set to defend his WWE Championship against Kofi Kingston at Fastlane earlier. But, the chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon replaced Kofi Kingston with Kevin Owens in this match as in his opinion, Kevin Owens was more qualified and more deserving of a WWE title shot than Kofi Kingston.

We all know that WWE has grand WrestleMania plans for Kofi Kingston and so, it will be interesting to see what happens in the match between Owens and Bryan at Fastlane. The return of Mustafa Ali on the go-home show has just raised the excitement levels for this match.

Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens are very talented inside the ring and can deliver a stellar match if given the proper time and spot. Given that the WWE Championship match main evented Elimination Chamber last month, I expect the new Daniel Bryan to defend his belt in that spot once again this month.
