The backstory

In 2006, CM Punk moved up to the main roster and soon became one of the most popular Superstars in the big leagues. Before this move, Punk spent a considerable amount of time in Ohio Valley Wrestling, WWE's developmental territory.

The offer

An incredibly rare segment from Punk's stint in OVW shows The Spirit Squad approaching him with an offer to join them. The faction wanted to recruit Punk as their backup boy in OVW, but the latter wasn't impressed by this offer one bit.

It started with one of the members speaking to someone, and talking about giving him a makeover, that would include a haircut. The person was revealed to be none other than Punk, who was asked by the faction to become their backup boy. Punk wasn't thrilled with the offer, and things started heating up as he showed signs of refusing the offer. Punk then decided to have some fun at the expense of the cheerleaders, and pretended as if he was a little bit interested in joining them. He asked them whether he would get one of their green shirts upon joining them, and was met with a loud yes. He kept at it for a while and stated that he could use a haircut. As one of the members prepared to shake Punk's hand to seal the deal, the latter hit him with a hard slap. An enraged Spirit Squad left the area, with Punk mocking their signature cheerleader chants and making it loud and clear that his answer is NO.

The aftermath

Punk soon moved to ECW, and then to Monday Night RAW, where he went on to win multiple WWE and World titles.
