WWE's resumed its live event tourney with a stacked show in Sydney.

The SmackDown roster was at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia for a card that featured seven matches. The house show was headlined by a huge Steel Cage match that had Roman Reigns team up with Daniel Bryan against Erick Rowan and Luke Harper.

All the top titles on SmackDown barring the WWE Championship were defended at the show. The Women's Tag Team titles were also on the line in a match between the Kabuki Warriors, Fire & Desire and The IIconics.

Unfortunately for the fans and WWE, two Superstars suffered injuries at the show. One of the stars who was hurt was a part of the Steel Cage main event.

Despite the injury setbacks, WWE managed to put on an entertaining show that had solid in-ring action from top to bottom.

On that note, let's get right into the results and highlights of the show:

#1 The Revival vs. The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) (WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship)

The show kicked off with a match between SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Revival and Big E and Kofi Kingston of The New Day.

However, Woods was taken out of the match after he collapsed to the mat. He was sent into the ropes and instead of ricocheting back, Woods fell to the mat and held onto his legs.

The referee put up the 'X' sign and the medics rushed out to take a look at Woods. Woods limped his way to the back with some assistance from the WWE medical team. Woods later revealed on Twitter that he suffered an injury to the Achilles Tendon, which was also later confirmed by WWE. The match then became a handicap contest as Big E took on Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

It didn't last long as The Revival rolled up Big E for the win.

Result: The Revival def. The New Day via pinfall to retain to SmackDown Tag Team titles

#2 Buddy Murphy vs. Sami Zayn

Despite being drafted to RAW, Buddy Murphy worked the SmackDown house show in a singles match against Sami Zayn.

WWE had to get Buddy Murphy to Sydney as the Superstar is an Australian and it would have helped with the ticket sales.

WWE did justice to the hometown tag by booking Murphy to go over Zayn. Murphy used his finisher the Murphy's Law to pick up the win over Zayn.

Result: Buddy Murphy def. Sami Zayn

#3 Kabuki Warriors vs. The IIconics vs. Fire & Desire (WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match)

The Women's Tag Team titles were on the line as Asuka and Kairi Sane defended them in a triple threat match.

This was another match booked to showcase Australian talents Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, who relished performing in front their hometown fans.

Kay and Royce were unsurprisingly over with the fans in attendance and came really close to pick the win when they delivered their finisher on Sonya Deville.

However, Asuka played her role of a heel to the tee by sending Billie Kay and Peyton Royce out of the ring. Asuka then pinned Sonya Deville and got the win for her team.

Result: Kabuki Warriors def. The IIconics and Fire & Desire to retain the WWE Women's Tag Team titles

#4 Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton

It was not too long ago when Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton were embroiled in a personal rivalry with the WWE Championship on the line. In the end, it was Brock Lesnar who swooped in and took away the WWE Champion after a seven-second shocker.

Nonetheless, Kingston and Orton continued their feud on the live event circuit with a decent match at the Sydney live event.

The match had its fair share of interruptions as Big E and The Revival ran out influence the outcome of the match.

Kingston got the win here after he hit Orton with the Trouble in Paradise. It was a typical Kingston/Orton match that was slow and 'methodical' at times. It was still a good match with a lot of star power that kept the fans invested.

Result: Kofi Kingston def. Randy Orton

#5 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

The Intercontinental title was defended next as Shinsuke Nakamura took on Ali in what ended up being a really decent outing for the two Superstars.

Ali showed off his athletic capabilities as always and gave Nakamura a run for his money. However, a distraction from Sami Zayn proved to be the decisive factor as Nakamura hit Ali with the Kinshasa for the win.

This was a good match to warm up the fans before the final two bouts of the evening.

Result: Shinsuke Nakamura def. Ali via pinfall

#6 Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE SmackDown Women's Championship

The co-main event of the evening saw Bayley put the SmackDown Women's title on the line against Charlotte Flair.

Bayley made her entrance with a blank Titantron and new music, continuing her evolution as a heel. The match kicked off with Bayley attacking Charlotte from the back. The match had a lot of subtle touches as per a fan who attended the show and it ended with a dirty pin from the champ.

The finish of the match was pretty predictable as Bayley rolled Charlotte up and kept her hands on the rope to get the victory.

Charlotte worked as the babyface and interacted with the fans after the match.

Result: Bayley def Charlotte Flair via pinfall to retain the SmackDown Women's Championship

#7 Roman Reigns & Daniel Bryan vs. Erick Rowan & Luke Harper (Steel Cage match)

The main event was a rematch from Hell in a Cell, only this time, the four Superstars were locked up inside a Steel cage.

It was a highly entertaining match that ended when Daniel Bryan hit Harper with a Flying Knee followed by a spear from Roman Reigns.

There was concerning news in the aftermath of the match, however, as reported by WrestlingInc, Roman Reigns may have injured himself during the match,

He took a hard bump between the ropes and the cage and was seen struggling as he walked on the ramp. The Big Dog even signalled to the WWE medics, who checked on him backstage.

We still don't have any more updates regarding his injury but we hope to get some as time passes on.
