WWE Monday Night Raw: 3 Fantastic botches and mistakes you missed this week (September 2nd, 2019)

It was the penultimate episode of Monday Night Raw ahead of Clash of Champions this week and several matches were made for the upcoming pay-per-view as well as Bayley turning heel in one of the most shocking moments of the show.

AJ Styles and The OC ran riot all over Monday Night Raw this week as the King of the Ring tournament continued with the quarter-finals as WWE continues to build towards the final of the event at Clash of Champions next weekend.

This was WWE's first chance to bounce back after AEW's All Out show was able to once again make all of the headlines on Saturday night, but much like All Elite Wrestling, there were a number of botches last night as part of the show and here are just a few that stood out.

#3 Lacey Evans botches turning around

Lacey Evans took on Natalya this week on Raw but ahead of their match Lacey Evans was attacked by The Queen of Harts as she made her way down the ramp. Evans was obviously caught by surprise since she was looking the wrong way and when Nattie ran down the ramp, she was forced to stop and wait for Evans to turn around for her to shoulder tackle.

Nattie later rolled into the ring and the two women faced off in another botchy match which has once again proved that The Sassy Southern Belle isn't ready to be on the Monday Night Raw roster. Evans has become one of the best-known stars when it comes to botches, but she continues to be put into high profile positions against the top stars in the Women's Division.

#2 AJ Styles promo

AJ Styles interrupted the contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman this week on Monday Night Raw as he and The OC ran riot throughout the show but whilst Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson made quite a good point about the Universal Championship, The Phenomenal One tripped over his words more than once.

Whilst explaining that he is still yet to find a challenger for Clash of Champions, Styles forgot the name of the pay-per-view next weekend but was able to correct himself just after. Styles later brought up the fact that Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman will be pulling double duty at the event and stated that it was no disrespect to Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, but called Robert, Bobby which is his old name.

Styles didn't go on to have a match on Raw, but it seems that in the few minutes that he was part of the show, he was able to leave quite an impression and could be teasing a United States Championship match against Cedric Alexander since he was attacked by the Champion backstage ahead of his King of the Ring quarter-final match.

#1 Baron Corbin vs Cedric Alexander

The quarter-finals of the King of the Ring tournament pitted Baron Corbin up against Cedric Alexander but it was definitely a mismatched encounter since there were a number of botches in the match throughout.

The first one came when Alexander seemingly missed a missile dropkick, but Corbin still bumped it even though it looked like it was miles away from the target, before a very scrappy Michinoku Driver from Alexander put Corbin down.

Interestingly, despite the botches, the two men were able to make the finish of the match look good when Corbin delivered End of Days to Alexander to progress. Corbin is now seen as the favorite to go on and win the reinvention of the tournament in the final at Clash of Champions.

Of course, if Corbin is hoping to make it to Clash of Champions next weekend then he will have to get past both Samoa Joe and Ricochet next week on Monday Night Raw when the three men collide in a triple threat match to decide who will go on to be a finalist in this year's King of the Ring tournament.
