You thought WWE was done with the whole Brand vs. Brand shtick with Survivor Series? Well, no!

The company announced a special Worlds Collide event for the night before Royal Rumble and that show will see the talents from NXT and NXT UK go up against each other in a series of matches.

Dave Meltzer stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE sources have confirmed that the show will be booked around Brand vs. Brand matches that have never been seen before by the WWE Universe.

The advertisements for the show feature the Champions of both brands such as Adam Cole, Kay Lee Ray, WALTER and Shayna Baszler.

Meltzer additionally reported that the plan is to have similar Brand vs. Brand shows on the Saturdays before major PPVs. The company wants Sundays to be reserved for big events such as the Takeover shows. Meltzer added that the plan is still in the experimental stage at the moment.

It was also revealed that the plan to have a brand wars-themed Worlds Collide event was in the works long before the idea for Survivor Series was pitched.

WWE will ideally announce more shows for the future based on the reception that the upcoming Worlds Collide event garners.

The first World Collide event was a two-day spectacle that happened in January earlier this year, which saw a 15-man tournament featuring Superstars from 205 Live, NXT and NXT UK. The winner got a shot at the title of his choice from any of the aforementioned brands. Velveteen Dream won the tournament and went on to defeat Johnny Gargano to become the new North American Champion.

WWE conducted another Worlds Collide event during WrestleMania Axxess in April, that also had Superstars from RAW and SmackDown, which was later made into a series for the WWE Network.

The next Worlds Collide event is scheduled to take place on January 25th, 2020 at the Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas and if it ends up being a success, we could see more events before PPVs in the future.
