What’s the story?

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Charlotte Flair addressed the possibility of facing MMA stars Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg in the WWE.

On that note, Charlotte insinuated that she’d love to welcome both Rousey and Cyborg to the WWE, given the considerable amount of curiosity that would come with the MMA icons competing in WWE.

Additionally, Flair explained that the prospect of MMA’s 4 Horsewomen facing their WWE counterparts, probably wouldn’t be much of a challenge given the MMA fighters’ lack of pro-wrestling experience, but would most definitely serve to draw a lot of eyeballs to the WWE.

In case you didn’t know…

Ronda Rousey is widely regarded as a Women’s MMA pioneer and is one of the biggest PPV draws in the world of combat sports.

On the other hand, Cris Cyborg is arguably the pound-for-pound best female fighter in the world today and has been embroiled in a longstanding rivalry with the aforementioned Rousey.

With Ronda Rousey’s MMA career all but done with—following back-to-back knockout losses in the UFC—the Judoka is now considering a move to the world of professional wrestling and is rumored to have signed a deal with the WWE.

The heart of the matter:

Charlotte Flair elucidated on Rousey and Cyborg crossing over to the world of sports-entertainment, stating –

"I think it is great because whether Ronda or Cyborg wants to be a part of the company, it is still drawing more attention to the women's division as a whole. Anytime outsiders who aren't necessarily our main audience are interested, 'Oh, they want to go to WWE'.

“Who do they want to wrestle?' I just think it is exciting. I just think it puts more eyes on us."

Furthermore, Flair revealed that MMA’s 4 Horsewomen probably wouldn’t be able to hang with the WWE’s female Superstars especially in ‘gimmick matches’ such as the Hell In A Cell bouts, but can definitely bring a different kind of excitement, so to speak, to the WWE.

What’s next?

Despite Ronda Rousey prepping to make her WWE debut soon, the company doesn’t seem to be taking as much interest in acquiring the services of Cris Cyborg.

Author’s take:

WWE is making all the right moves as regards hiring Rousey, and not Cyborg, given the latter’s long and twisted history with steroid abuse.

Nevertheless, now that the Rowdy one is all set to compete inside the squared circle in the near future, who’d you like to see the ferocious former UFC Champion against in the WWE? Sound off in the comments!
