What’s the story?

Former WWE SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan was among the SmackDown Superstars who were backstage during Monday Night Raw for the Superstar Shakeup. Mike Rome caught up with Bryan and asked which brand he wanted to compete on.

In case you didn’t know...

Ever since the original WWE brand extension back in 2002, SmackDown has always been referred to as the 'B show'. However this isn't the only name it has had, as it has also been referred to as the wrestling show.

Where RAW has often catered to promos and segments over matches, SmackDown has always featured more in-ring action and pure wrestling, and thus fits Daniel Bryan perfectly.

The heart of the matter

While speaking to WWE announcer Mike Rome backstage during Raw, the recently returned Daniel Bryan was asked what was it like being there knowing that he could possibly go to Monday Night Raw.

Bryan responded by pleading with new SmackDown Live General Manager Paige to let him stay on SmackDown and went on to say that he wanted to compete with the like of AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship, while competing for the Universal Championship would be silly.

What’s next?

Night 2 of the Superstar Shakeup continues Tuesday night on SmackDown Live. It has now become aparent that Daniel Bryan has gotten his wish and will be staying on SmackDown.

His longtime rival The Miz was announced to be the first Superstar to be drafted from Raw to SmackDown, so it looks like we may get that new revised dream feud between the two.

Author’s take

I am very happy that Daniel Bryan will remain on the blue brand. Like everyone has said, SmackDown is the wrestling show and Bryan is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, so the two go hand in hand. I look forward to seeing Bryan have pay-per-view matches with AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, The Miz and many more.
