What's the story?

There is a lot of speculation at the moment on where Kenny Omega will be hanging his hat after he officially departs New Japan Pro Wrestling at the end of this month. There have been some rumors on a possible meeting happening over the next week between Omega and WWE, obviously leading to speculation that The Cleaner may finally sign with WWE.

The recently returned WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan chimed in on all this talk during a recent interview with Sports Illustrated[H/T SEScoops].

In case you didn't know...

While there is a chance that Kenny Omega may sign with WWE, most assume he will come to terms with All Elite Wrestling. The new upstart promotion announced its existence just last week, with Kenny's close friends Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks each serving as Vice Presidents.

If that wasn't enough already, for years it has been that no wrestling company can match a WWE contract offer, however, the owner of AEW, Jacksonville Jaguars co-owner Tony Khan has a net worth of over $4.5 Billion, so it seems like for the first time since WCW went out of business, there is finally a new wrestling promoter in town who can play who has the bigger cheque book with Vince McMahon.

The heart of the matter

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, who made his first appearance on WWE RAW in over 3 and a half years this past Monday to pay tribute to 'Mean' Gene Okerlund, was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated. Hogan covered a number of topics, most notably, the biggest question in wrestling right now. Should Kenny Omega go to WWE? When asked, Hogan had the following to say:

''It’s tough to go your whole life without eating at McDonald’s or riding in a Chevrolet. If you don’t touch on the WWE, the story’s not complete. But maybe Kenny could be the exception.''

What's next?

When Hulk Hogan said Kenny could be the exception, he is referring to how much of an incredible career Kenny Omega has had so far and how it will continue as so, and thus he may not need WWE to complete his career. And he might be right.

Many fans are hoping that Kenny Omega does come to WWE and that he will debut in the Royal Rumble match, like AJ Styles in 2016. However, Omega is still under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling until January 31, and the Royal Rumble is January 27, making it legally impossible.
