MMA News: Kurt Angle issues Challenge to Conor McGregor

The Olympic Gold Medalist wants to put the money where he feels McGregor’s mouth is

Kurt Angle is an 18 year veteran in the professional wrestling business having spent 8 years with WWE, while the remaining 10 were spent with TNA. He left in January 2016 and has been making appearances on the independent circuit.

Recently, in a conference call, McGregor had negative things to say about WWE superstars, calling them “p*ssies”. This led to a massive backlash from WWE superstars, both from the past and present. Kurt Angle especially has been very vocal in his criticism of Conor McGregor’s comments. McGregor added fuel to the fire when he recently called John Cena a failed bodybuilder.

The Olympic Gold Medalist spoke to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso and wasn’t afraid to speak his mind on how he felt about Conor McGregor:

On Conor McGregor’s comments about WWE Superstars being, “Messed up p*ssies”:

Conor is either the most loved or the most hated fighter in UFC, and that’s a credit to him,” said Angle. “But to cross over into another career, into pro wrestling–something you don’t even know–and call WWE wrestlers “p——”? That’s offensive. Don’t talk about someone you don’t know.”

On what would happen if Kurt stepped into an octagon with Conor McGregor:

“I’d take him down, then ground and pound him until I knocked him out,” said Angle. “Conor is a polished fighter, but with my size, I would overpower him. It wouldn’t be that difficult for me.”

On Conor McGregor’s lack of respect for pro wrestling:

“I’d like to challenge Conor,” said Angle. “Take five bumps with me in the ring. Just five bumps. When I did that for the first time, I took three and said, ‘F— this, I’m quitting.’ I quit for a couple days and my manager talked me into going back. I know how Dana White and Conor continue to bash the business, but I challenge either of them to get in the ring with me and take five bumps. Once they do, they’ll realize how tough it is–and that’s not even a fraction of what it takes to be a pro wrestler.”

It is highly likely that McGregor is just working everyone in order to get more attention. It’s no secret that The Notorious one is very good at selling himself, thus becoming a big draw. It comes at a good timing too as it will attract many people to want to see his fight against Nate Diaz on August 20th at UFC 202.

Do you think The Notorious will ever step into the WWE ring in the future? If yes, who should he go up against?
