Seth Rollins and AJ Styles faced off in tonight's main event, giving us a glimpse at a possible Title vs Title feud. After all, the Universal Champion was a double champ before, holding both the WWE and United States Titles.
During their exhibition tonight, though, things didn't go The Architect's way, thanks to the RAW Tag Team Champions.
The OC run rampant
Following their match, AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows beat Seth Rollins down, attempting to assert their dominance over the weakened Universal Champion. Mid beatdown, Ricochet rushed the ring. The One and Only put up a valiant effort, but was quickly dispatched.
Following a nasty Boot of Doom, Ricochet was dumped outside, leading to a terrifying moment for Rollins. Styles sat atop the turnbuckle, looking for Gallows & Anderson to set up a triple powerbomb. Before they could deliver the final blow, though, the cavalry came in the form of Braun Strowman.
The Monster Among Men returns
Braun Strowman bowled through Karl Anderson, trying to cut off the former MITB winner in his tracks. Anderson was sent flying as Strowman continued his assault, sending Gallows crashing to the ground with a freakish shoulder tackle.
AJ Styles attempted to bring the big man down with a few kicks to the leg. However, as Styles went to finish him off, he was caught in Strowman's hands for a massive powerslam. While that was probably more than enough to end Styles' night, Strowman opted to inflict more punishment, driving him into the middle of the ring with a running powerslam.
As The OC were forced to retreat, Strowman rolled out to grab Rollins' championship. He handed it over and shook the hand of the champion. Strowman, Styles, and Ricochet celebrated as RAW went off the air.
With the Monster Among Men back on Monday nights, one has to wonder what his motive is. Will he continue to terrorize The OC? Does he have his eyes on the United States Championship, or is the Universal Title the prize he's coveting?
