John Cena Sr. wants to see a role for Brock Lesnar (L) at WrestleMania

WWE WrestleMania 37 is just about a couple of weeks away at this stage and things are certainly heating up. We take a look at a number of recent news stories in this edition of the round-up, including John Cena's father wanting to see Brock Lesnar making an appearance at WrestleMania 37.

We also have an update on Ronda Rousey's UFC status from Dana White. We also take a look at a number of other stories including Zelina Vega signing a new contract.

#6 John Cena Sr. recently tipped Brock Lesnar to make a special appearance as a referee at WWE WrestleMania 37

Bobby Lashley is set to defend the WWE Championship against 'The Scottish Warrior' Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 37. Lashley, who won the WWE Championship from The Miz on RAW, is set for one of the biggest matches of his career at WrestleMania.

John Cena Sr. was recently a guest on Boston Wrestling MWF's Wrestling Insiders and gave his thoughts on the matchup between Lashley and McIntyre. Cena Sr. had an interesting idea for the match, saying that he wants to see Brock Lesnar as the special guest referee in the match or to make a run-in during it:

"My whole thing is, I'm putting my money on Bobby Lashley. I think they would be very remiss if they put that belt back on Drew McIntyre. What I'd like to see at WrestleMania, Lashley against McIntyre, and I know you're not in favor of this stuff, but if you want a special guest referee or a run-in so that nothing happens, I'd bring my man Brock Lesnar in to shake things up. That would be the surprise of surprises. Let it go from there. But please, please, don't let this bubble bounce back and forth. Give the man [Lashley] a chance."

Brock Lesnar's last WWE appearance came at WrestleMania 36 where he lost the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. Lesnar being involved in this match would definitely make storyline sense if WWE decides to go with Cena Sr.'s idea or something similar.

#5 Dana White gives a big update on former WWE RAW Women's Champion Ronda Rousey's status

Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey has not been seen on WWE television since the main event of WrestleMania 35, where she competed in the triple threat won by Becky Lynch.

We got an update on Ronda Rousey's status from Dana White during the UFC 260 press conference. White said that he had spoken to Rousey, adding that she was not coming back to compete inside the Octagon:

"Yes. Yesterday (Spoke to Rousey). But don't even f****** start with that, you guys. Yesterday, about lots of different things but not this. But yes, we talked yesterday. Absolutely, positively, not ever coming back."

Ronda Rousey had one of the best rookie years in WWE history and she has definitely been missed on WWE television in the last couple of years. There has been a lot of speculation about a possible return, including photos of Rousey training with the likes of James Storm.

There was some speculation earlier this year that Rousey could be back on the road to WrestleMania 37 but that's clearly not the way WWE decided to go.

#4 WWE SmackDown superstar Seth Rollins calls Cesaro's signature move 'trash'

Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has been trying to get members of the WWE SmackDown roster to embrace his vision recently and it's fair to say that it's not going well. The WWE Superstar that Rollins first tried to rope in was Cesaro and it didn't go as planned. Rollins ended up attacking Cesaro, starting a feud between the duo. The Swiss Cyborg also hit back last week, putting Rollins in the Cesaro Swing when they ran into each other backstage.

Rollins is clearly at the end of his tether and recently decided to attack Cesaro on social media, taking to Twitter to call the Cesaro Swing 'trash'.

Although disgruntled, Rollins will get the chance to settle this feud at WWE WrestleMania 37 when he faces Cesaro in singles action. The former Universal Champion has already taken to Twitter to proclaim that he is going to 'destroy' The Swiss Cyborg at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

There's some possible good news for Lucha Underground fans. According to Dave Meltzer, on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been talks to bring back Lucha Underground in a new form:

"There is at least the beginning of talk of reviving Lucha Underground. It would be the same type of ideas, although with a different name." H/T: Sportskeeda

Lucha Underground saw 126 episodes air across four seasons. The final episode of Lucha Underground aired on October 31st, 2018.

#2 Legendary WWE referee Jimmy Korderas doesn't want Andrade to sign with AEW

Former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas was a guest on a recent episode of WrestlingINC Daily. Andrade, who was released by WWE last week, has confirmed that he is not subject to the 90-day non-compete clause we usually see with superstars who have been granted their release.

During his appearance on WINC Daily, Korderas gave his take on what Andrade should do now that he's been granted his release from WWE. Korderas said that he personally doesn't want to see Andrade sign with AEW and he went on to explain why:

"A lot of people are speculating that he will go to AEW and stuff like that but I don't want AEW to look like the place that ex-WWE guys go to show 'hey, they didn't use me properly and if they'd used me properly this is what I could have done'. You're kind of feeding into a fixed crowd, if that makes any kind of sense. I'd like to see a little... at least AEW is expanding a bit and working with the NWA it seems, and IMPACT wrestling. I'd like to see Andrade, again depending on this pandemic situation, maybe go back to Mexico and get his feet wet again there. Maybe a little NWA, maybe a little IMPACT, something different as opposed to being 'hey, here's another ex-WWE guy coming to AEW." H/T: Sportskeeda

It will be interesting to see what Andrade’s next move is, especially because he does not have a non-compete close. Thea Trinidad (fka Zelina Vega) is also a free agent now and it will be interesting to see whether we see them back together as an act.

#1 Former WWE Superstar Zelina Vega has signed a new contract

Zelina Vega
Zelina Vega

Thea Trinidad (fka Zelina Vega) was released by WWE in 2020 because she violated the company's new policy about third-party deals. While serving out her 90-day non-compete cause, Trinidad has continued to stream quite successfully on Twitch. As for her wrestling career, we now have a new update thanks to Dave Meltzer.

Meltzer recently said that Thea Trinidad has signed a new contract but it's not with AEW. Meltzer added that this does not mean that Trinidad will not sign with AEW in the future. Here's what he had to say:

"Trinidad has signed a deal, we don't know with who or even that it's with a wrestling promotion, but the deal she signed would not allow her to work for another wrestling company and it was not with AEW. It was a somewhat short-term thing and the door wasn't shut on her eventually working with AEW but it won't be any time imminently."

With Andrade's recent release from WWE, there was some speculation that we could see the duo reunite. With Trinidad signing a deal with another company, that does look a little unlikely for the time being.
