WWE News: Shelton Benjamin brings back old theme song after 8 years (Video)

The Gold Standar
The Gold Standard seems to have reverted back to his original theme song

What's the story?

WWE is just coming off of another successful tour of Europe which included Ronda Rousey's first ever WWE Live Event matches. This tour had a number of surprises and amongst them was former Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin bringing back his old theme song "Ain't No Stopping Me Now".

In case you didn't know...

Shelton Benjamin returned to WWE during the 2017 Superstar Shake-Up, joining the SmackDown brand. After Jason Jordan's departure to RAW, then GM Daniel Bryan made Shelton Benjamin tag with Jordan's former partner Chad Gable.

Gable and Benjamin found mild success in SmackDown's tag division but never won the blue brand's tag-team titles. The duo was broken up during the 2018 Superstar Shake-Up when Gable moved to RAW as a singles competitor.

The heart of the matter

Shelton Benjamin brought back his beloved "Ain't No Stopping Me Now" entrance theme at WWE's Live Event in Prague, Czech Republic. Benjamin came out to face Sin Cara and won the match after hitting his finishing move, the Paydirt.

What's next?

Both Shelton Benjamin and Sin Cara have been directionless of late on SmackDown. Neither of them have had a good 2018 so far. Moving forward, it looks like Shelton Benjamin could be a heel, going by what he said after Chad Gable was drafted to RAW.

As for Sin Cara, it's not clear what's next for him. However, a big push doesn't seem to be on the cards for the former Lucha Dragon.

Author's take

Benjamin bringing back his old theme could be a step in the right direction if WWE is planning to have him be a babyface instead of a heel. Bringing back a beloved them song for a heel seems counterproductive.
