In the latest episode of The Steve Austin Show, WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin discussed the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.

Apart from revealing his favorite matches from the show, Steve Austin also talked about the opening match of the night, where Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman defended the RAW Tag Team Championships against Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

The brand new RAW Tag Team Champions, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler, only started teaming up since last month. However, their performance as a tag team has been flawless and attracted praises from Stone Cold. The WWE Hall of Famer stated,

It was short, but just the title switch and Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler, both of those guys have been there, putting in a lot of hard work. And, of course, Dolph Ziggler has been there for a real long time and his work is just… Dolph Ziggler is just a great worker and he [has] really turned up the volume on those promos, so congrats to both those guys.

Steve Austin also congratulated Ziggler and Roode for their work as a tag team,

But to Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler, for winning those titles, it's great to see the gold, silver, whatever color they are, in their hands.

Buildup to the main event

In his podcast, Stone Cold pointed out how the title change helped in building up for the main event of Clash of Champions. According to him, losing the RAW Tag Team Championships made more sense and provided Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman with more reasons to beat each other.

The first match, with the tag titles being switched, I really enjoyed that match because it set up the story for the rest of the show. When Braun came there to the back and said, 'hey, they didn't lose the tag titles, Seth lost the tag titles,' I was like, 'oh man, here we go. What a story!' So I didn't get all the way to the main event, but I loved that [tag] match.

He was right indeed, as Seth Rollins gave in his everything and successfully defended the WWE Universal Championship against the 'Monster Among Men'.
