WWE News: Triple H provides an update on Ronda Rousey signing with WWE

<p>

What’s the Story?

Well, it seems like the story that just won't go away, will Ronda Rousey sign with WWE? On a recent conference call to promote NXT TakeOver, Triple H provided an update on discussions between the WWE and the UFC star.

In case you didn’t know...

Ronda Rousey took the MMA world by storm. Since 2014, she has hinted at swapping the octagon for the squared circle.

So far, we've witnessed Rousey on WWE TV twice. Most notably alongside The Rock at WrestleMania 31 in a segment with Triple H himself and Stephanie McMahon.

However, more recently, WWE has teased a rivalry with Charlotte Flair.

They even added four months ago that they were "so ready" for the two to clash

The heart of the matter

On the call, Triple H was asked about discussions with Ronda Rousey and if a deal was in place.

Triple H responded that they have talked about all sorts of scenarios, they have had back and forth conversations but also added that all parties have been busy and that no deal has been hammered out yet.

'The Game' commented on Rousey's "deep love" for pro wrestling, commenting on the Roddy Piper connection. He also said she's actually been training for pro wrestling on the side going back four years in preparation for an eventual transition.

He said that the reason the process is going so slowly is that Rousey's love for the business means it will be difficult for her to not be "all in" when she eventually steps into the squared circle. Adding to this and how busy both she and WWE have been recently, he stated it might be a while before talks are concluded.

What’s Next?

Well, while Triple H has hinted that no deal has been done and it may be a while, that's exactly what you'd expect him to say. When WWE confirms Ronda Rousey as a WWE Superstar, it will most likely not be on a conference call to promote NXT TakeOver.

With Rousey still hotly tipped to be an entrant in the Women's Royal Rumble match on Sunday, the show is an absolute must watch.

Author’s Take

Well, there isn't a great deal that can be said here that hasn't already been said. Triple H seems to be giving away just enough information to keep everyone hooked on to the story, but not enough to confirm any actual details.

WWE could have already signed Rousey, discussions could have even cooled. But this seems like a deal both parties want to get done one way or another. It'll be interesting to see if the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion turns up on Sunday.
