WWE News: Update on Undertaker's Wrestlemania 33 match

The Phenom is expected to be there at Orlando

Rumour has it, that after Wrestlemania 32, this year, The Undertaker said, that would be his final match. However, given the fact that he appears on Smackdown Live in less than ten days, it is unlikely.

Nevertheless, regarding Wrestlemania 33, there has been wild speculation about not only his availability/willingness to work, but also his opponent.

According to Cage Side Seats, not only is there a belief that he will work next year at Wrestlemania 33, but it is likely that it will be promoted as his last match. That would be a smart business move to make, as more eyes will be drawn toward The Phenom’s final match, especially among casual fans and old fans who tuned out.

It will be a final shot at nostalgia for a huge demographic.

It is now heavily rumoured that his opponent for Wrestlemania 33 may be Randy Orton. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated, that one of the primary reasons that Randy Orton joined The Wyatt Family was so that he could be an opponent for The Deadman.

One of the reasons Orton is being considered for the position is that at this point, he is one of the safest workers for The Undertaker.

Naturally, the biggest rumoured opponent for The Phenom is John Cena. Cena is on a hiatus until the end of the year, so it does not look like they will be crossing paths when Undertaker returns in ten days time.

If The Phenom does not face Cena at Wrestlemania, one can expect that Cena will most definitely go after the sixteenth world Championship and win it at Wrestlemania as well, perhaps in the main event.

One would imagine that The Undertaker’s farewell match would be the main event, though, similar to how Shawn Michael’s final match was in the main event of Wrestlemania 26 ( which was incidentally against The Undertaker).
