What's the story?

NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool definitely lived up to the hype. With five incredible matches over the course of two and a half hours, the Blackpool crowd and the WWE Universe were treated to nonstop action. However, it wasn't just the fans that were impressed with the UK roster.

In case you didn't know...

NXT UK's first TakeOver event took place today. It featured a card that included two title defenses, the crowning of the first ever NXT UK Tag Team Champions, and the bloody ending to a brutal feud between two of the biggest brawlers on the roster.

Add to that the surprise performance by a former WWE Universal Champion, and this was a can't miss event. Pete Dunne and Joe Coffey sealed the deal tonight with an epic match, where the leader of Gallus managed to kick out of Dunne's Bitter End multiple times. After the match, we saw the debut of NXT UK's biggest signing, Walter.

From beginning to end, there wasn't a point where fans could look away from the action, and even Vince McMahon had to give the roster props for their achievement tonight.

The heart of the matter

After NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool, the Chairman took to Twitter to praise the UK roster for everything they had done. It was short. It was sweet. It was everything he needed to say.

What's next?

NXT UK has a lot to build with now that their first TakeOver event has ended. New tag team champions, the fallout of Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley, and the debut of Walter will give them enough to work with as they build towards their next event, whenever that may be.

As far as Vince McMahon's statement, we have to agree. If you haven't watched TakeOver: Blackpool yet, give it a chance. It was indeed awesome.
