WWE News: WWE impressed with former TNA star Tony Nese

Nese vs Styles at an indy event

The WWE doesn’t seemed to have crossed off everything on its shopping list. After AJ Styles and Austin Aries, it looks like another former TNA star might be walking out from under the titantron.

Tony Nese, an erstwhile fixture in TNA’s X-Division, was scouted by WWE officials recently, reports dailywrestlingnews.com. The scouts were highly impressed with the “Premier Athlete”, and reports suggest that he could join the company later this year. It will be interesting to see if Nese finds himself on the main roster or is used to bolster the popular NXT brand.

Another wrestler the scouts were interested in was Rhett Giddins, a 6”5’, 255 lbs bruiser. The officials were excited by the big man’s movement but felt that “The Freak” needed to work on his look and pack on more muscle.

Nese, who could be labelled a Cruiserweight, made his pro-wrestling debut in 2005 and was signed by TNA in 2011 and competed in the X Division against the likes of Austin Aries and Kid Kash. He was released in 2012 but made a one-off appearance in January 2013’s X-travaganza. Since then, he has done the rounds of the indy circuit, competing for promotions like Pro Wrestling Syndicate, Dragon Gate USA and Evolve.
