WWE NXT 25 May, 2016 Results: #1 Contender for Women's Title crowned, Aries/Nakamura, TM-61 Debut!

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Austin Aries confirmed for NXT TakeOver on June 8th

WWE NXT TV Results for May 25, 2016

Venue: Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL

- The show opened with The NXT General Manager William Regal in his office. Regal’s initial idea was to have Bayley face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver on June 8th. However, Bayley is hurt after last week’s match with Nia Jax.

So tonight’s main event will feature Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax in a Triple Threat match to determine a number one contender for the NXT Women’s Title.

- Now we head into the first official match of the night.

This match features the debut of the Aussie Tag Team, which has proven their worth all across the globe, named TMDK (The Mighty Don’t Kneel).

Now in WWE, they will be billed as TM-61.

Tag Team Match: ‘The Psycho Killer’ Tommaso Ciampa and ‘Johnny Wrestling’ Johnny Gargano vs TM-61 (Shane Thorne and Nick Miller)

Nick Miller and Tomasso Ciampa start out in this match. Both men try to ground one another via grapping but neither of them have success in gaining the upper hand. Miller wins the exchange with a shoulder block and then both the competitors tag out to their respective partners.

Shane flips out of a Gargano wrist lock and then grounds him with a snapmare and a dropkick. Miller tags in and stomps Gargano. TM-61 hit a double team move on Gargano. Ciampa is tagged in, which results in him getting chopped down. TM-61 hit a nice fistdrop/moonsault combo move, followed up by a tease of a Tope Suicida on Gargano.

Now we are back from the break, to see Gargano spike Shane with a dropkick of his own, before a legsweep and a modified version of a full nelson slam. Ciampa comes in and destroys Thorne with a hard chop. Thorne manages to nail a dropkick on Ciampa, and both men are down. TM-61 hit a neckbreaker combo move on Ciampa and go for a count but Gargano manages to break it up within the nick of time.

And then Gargano takes out Miller with a super kick which sends Miller to the outside and then follows it with a crazy Tope Suicida to the outside to ground Miller. Ciampa hits Shane with a big knee in the corner, and then Gargano and Ciampa hit Shane with a running knee/superkick combo move for the one-two-three.

Official Result: Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa won via pinfall

- Next we see a promo for Finn Balor/Samoa Joe bout for the NXT Heavyweight Championship at NXT TakeOver on June 8th in a first ever Steel Cage Match in NXT.

- Next we head to a backstage interview by Cathy Kelley with Bayley. Bayley says that it sucks to be in the position that she is but she agrees a hundred percent with William Regal’s Decision. Nia Jax interrupts this interview session and boasts about her vicious mean streak and what she did to Bayley last week and says that Bayley will NEVER be the same again. Carmella joins in this ‘Interview Party’ and backs up her friend Bayley. Nia says that she’s gonna steamroll through Carmella and the ‘little blonde’ Alexa Bliss. Alexa too joins in this ‘Interview Party’ but gets a rather bitter retort from Nia that Alexa isn't even worth it and Nia walks away.

- Next we see a vignette for the debut of Andrade "Cien" Almas, fka La Sombra in the independent circuit. He wrestled wearing a mask prior to NXT and he worked NXT house shows with the name ‘’Manny Andrade’’.

- ‘The Greatest Man That Ever Lived’ Austin Aries comes out to the ring to cut a promo and says you're only the best until someone better comes along. He wonders what makes you the best, and says he's done everything, but timing is everything, and when he walked in the fray of the NXT Brand, the other people who came at the same time took the spotlight away with them. A loud ‘’Nakamura’’ chant breaks out in the crowd. He proclaims that none of it matters, and whosoever wins the NXT Heavyweight Championship Steel Cage Match at TakeOver will have to face him next.

‘The King of Strong Style’ Shinsuke Nakamura interrupts and comes out of the curtain to a thunderous reception from the crowd in attendance at Full Sail. Nakamura apologizes to Aries and asks him if he understands Japanese. Aries says that he ain’t getting what he is saying. Nakamura proclaims he's coming after the NXT Heavyweight Championship too. NXT General Manager William Regal comes out and ends the ‘argument’ by announcing Austin Aries versus Shinsuke Nakamura for TakeOver.

They proclaim that there are no two better guys in the wrestling ring together than them. And they put over The Revival by saying that they are right now their toughest opponents. The American Alpha sign off by saying that it doesn’t matter where or when, they will be ‘Ready, Willing and Gable’.

Singles Match: No Way Jose vs Jonathon Ordagan

Jose applies a headlock (and don’t forget the dance people). Jose grounds Jonathon via shoulder and dancing continues. Jose jumps over Jonathon and then grounds him with a snapmare. Jose hoists him and does the airplane spin followed by a rolling senton. A facebuster and dancing follows (Don’t forget the Dance people) and then Jose nails Jonathon with a knockout punch and a full nelson slam for the three-count.

Official Result: No Way Jose won via pinfall

- Next we head backstage where we see the lovely Cathy Kelley interviewing the reigning defending undisputed NXT Women’s Champion Asuka. Asuka is asked about the upcoming main event which is the #1 contender’s match for her title. Asuka replies that she has no preference whatsoever and claims that whosoever comes in front of her, she’ll defeat ‘em all.

- Scheduled for next week:

* Corey Graves hosts a face to face interview session with ‘The Demon’ Finn Balor and the current NXT Heavyweight Champion ‘The Samoan Submission Machine’ Samoa Joe.* In Singles Action, we have ‘The Greatest Man That Ever Lived’ Austin Aries vs. ‘The Drifter’ Elias Samson.

Triple Threat Match to crown the #1 Contender for NXT Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss vs Carmella vs Nia Jax

youtube-cover

Initially it seems that the two ‘petite’ ladies would form an alliance of sorts against the beast. But, surprisingly enough, right off the bat, Alexa Bliss rolls out of the ring, and Carmella goes to work on Nia, but keeps getting thrown around like a rag doll.

Nia catches Alexa on the top turnbuckle and scares her down. Nia fails to nail a clothesline, Carmella counters her failed attempt by catching Nia in the hurricanarana and shoving her into the ring post but Alexa capitalizes on this window of opportunity by going right after Carmella by rolling her up for a pinfall with a handful of tights.

Nia tries to get in the ring but to no avail as Alexa boots her outside. Alexa does her choke STO and moonsault knee drop on Carmella before punching and hitting Nia with the double foot stop in the abdominal region. Alexa hits the Sparkle Splash from the top turnbuckle on Nia, but Carmella breaks the count in the nick of time.

Nia Jax eats the turnbuckle and then Carmella and Alexa try to double suplex Nia with their combined strength but to no avail as they get suplexed themselves by Nia. All the three competitors are down on the mat as the crowd appreciates the action with claps.

Nia gets dumped to the outside of the ring. Carmella gets caught on a suicide dive attempt by Nia, but Bliss penalty kicks Jax from the apron! This time Carmella succeeds while hitting the Tope Suicida on Nia and but gets attacked from behind by Bliss afterwards. Carmella hits the Bronco Buster on Alexa followed up by the Inverted Triangle Choke. Nia breaks the submission attempts by Carmella.

Nia attempts to hit Carmella with a bodyslam but gets countered by Carmella via a traditional sleeper hold. Nia successfully breaks the hold. Then, Carmella hits a Thesz press from the top turnbuckle for a two. Jax manages to get on her feet and slams Carmella down on the mat and puts an exclamation point by following with a leg drop for the victory.

Official Result: Nia Jax won via pinfall

Asuka comes out after the match and smiles (creepy) before getting in Nia's face and raising the title high above her shoulder.

AN INTENSE STAREDOWN between the Challenger and the Champion ends this week’s show.
