WWE NXT- 5 Points to Note: Underdog almost upsets Champion, BrutaI backstage attack

I genuinely thought that this week's episode of WWE NXT was okay but not nearly as good as RAW and SmackDown Live. I suppose that when the main roster actually puts in the work and tells stories, they can put on pretty good sports entertainment spectacles.

While this was a departure from the norm, it does not mean that this week's episode of NXT was poor at all. There was a lot that I liked about it, and I will pick out 5 points to note, hand-picked for your reading pleasure.

In case you missed the show because of your busy schedule, you may just wish to peruse through this list and stay up-to-date with what's been happening. NXT will go to the USA Network soon, and things are bound to pick up when it does.

In fact, I have a feeling that next week's show will be much bigger than this one was.

#5 Shirai attacks LeRae

WWE is stacked with talent in the women's division. We all know this. But LeRae and Shirai are in a league of their own even with the high standards expected from the women of WWE, and they're elevating one another with an incredibly heated feud in NXT right now.

Io Shirai went heel not long ago, and since then has been on a tear displaying her mean and nasty side to the world. She would unleash an attack on Candice LeRae in the backstage area and surprisingly even be rewarded for her actions with a Number 1 Contender's match for the NXT Women's Championship. The other two contenders in the match are Bianca Belair and Mia Yim.

Will LeRae play a part in this match, spoling Io Shirai's chances? It does seem very likely indeed.

#4 Breezango gains momentum ahead of NXT on USA Network

So, one thing that we know for sure is that when NXT goes to the USA Network, there will be a few names from the main roster who show up on the black and gold brand to lend it a good amount of star power. After all, they'll be going up against AEW's weekly show, a few weeks later. Tyler Breeze had a great run in NXT but then when he was called up, he was only a shadow of his former self, and many on social media called for him to return to NXT.

It does seem like Breezango will fare much better on NXT than they did on SmackDown Live. In fact, they seem like they're the leading babyface team to challenge the Undisputed ERA. I'm assuming that the Street Profits will make RAW their new home.

Breezango picked up a big win over Chase Parker and Matt Martel!

#3 Jordan Myles takes Adam Cole to the limit!

This was a fine match, but I just thought that Jordan Myles did not seem like he was even in the same ballpark as Adam Cole during the contest. I would have actually quite liked it had Myles teased cashing it on other Champions over the next few weeks, and gotten over with the NXT Universe, before facing Adam Cole.

In case you guys are wondering who I'm talking about, Jordan Myles is the winner of the NXT breakout tournament and a fine professional wrestler too. It's just that he's far too young and inexperienced to be in there with someone as seasoned as Cole.

I thought that the match was a little more competitive than it even needed to be, as well. That said, I wonder who's next for Cole.

Matt Riddle is a name that immediately springs to mind!

#2 Bianca Belair picks up much-needed momentum before her big three-way match

Taynara Conti is one of the more promising women in NXT, with an incredible look and a ton of potential. But she would go up against Bianca Belair this week, in a match that reminded us about how good Belair is. One look at her and it's hard to imagine why WWE hasn't given her a Championship run yet.

With this win, Belair is part of the group of three women who have a chance to go up against the NXT Women's Champion for a shot at the big prize. Belair does seem like the most likely candidate at this moment in time. Mia Yim just had her opportunity and well, Io Shirai is a heel (unless there's a title change and Rhea Ripley becomes Champion before then, this doesn't make sense).

In any case, Belair's victory was much-needed. Let's see how far NXT pushes her, this time around.

#1 Roderick Strong burns The Velveteen Dream's couch

Look, it's hard not to guess the result of a match where The Velveteen Dream goes up against NXT Superstar Kona Reeves. Reeves has all the potential in the world, but he hasn't been able to make it work for him thus far, which is why it seems like it'll be a while before he's pushed big time.

So, The Velveteen Dream picked up a comprehensive win with the Dream Valley Driver. And then to the shock of everyone in the arena, Roderick Strong appeared on the big screen and set the Velveteen Dream's signature couch on fire.

To fulfill the Undisputed prophecy, every member of the Undisputed ERA needs to be a Champion by the end of the year 2019. It looks like Strong is in the head of the Velveteen Dream and things will certainly go up in flames very soon!
