WWE points out an interesting fact following Rey Mysterio's United States Championship win on RAW

After losing a hard-fought battle to Brock Lesnar, Rey Mysterio bounced back tonight on RAW in a way only he is capable of. First, he defeated Randy Orton, Ricochet and Drew McIntyre to become the no.1 contender for the WWE United States Championship. Then, with some assist from The Viper, he went on to pin AJ Styles and win the United States Championship for a second time.

WrestleMania throwback

Tonight's RAW emanated from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Following his victory over AJ Styles on the latest episode of the Red brand, WWE pointed out how Rey Mysterio has more memories attached to the venue.

Allstate Arena was also the home of WWE WrestleMania 22, where The Biggest Little Man won perhaps the most important match of his career. He would defeat Randy Orton and Kurt Angle in a triple threat match to win the World Heavyweight Championship for the first time in his illustrious career. The title win was not only noteworthy because of his stature but also due to his ascend to the top of WWE following the tragic death of his friend, Eddie Guerrero.

Interestingly, Randy Orton remained a constant in both the scenarios and played a pivotal role in Rey Mysterio winning the gold.
