WWE Press Conference: 4 Potential announcements WWE could make this Friday in Las Vegas

Why has WWE called for a Press Conference on Friday?
Why has WWE called for a Press Conference on Friday?

It was revealed on The Bump earlier today that WWE will hold a Press Conference on Friday live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. There are currently rumors circulating that the company could be planning to make some huge announcements as part of the conference, but none of these announcements have been confirmed as of writing.

The announcement stated that WWE COO Triple H, Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar, Cain Velasquez, Braun Strowman, Tyson Fury and Rey Mysterio will all be in attendance for the conference, which will be streamed on the WWE Network and on WWE's Social Media platforms ahead of Friday Night SmackDown this week.

Given the lineup of names that will be part of the press conference, there are only a number of things that the company could announce and here are just of the four possibilities.

#4 Cain Velasquez has signed a WWE contract

Has Velasquez agreed to a deal with WWE?

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez shocked the world on Friday night when he appeared on SmackDown's debut show on the FOX Network to avenge Brock Lesnar's attack on his godson Dominik Mysterio.

Velasquez is one of only three men to have defeated Brock Lesnar during his successful UFC stint and it's believed that the two men are now destined to collide in a WWE ring. The one issue here is the fact that the former Champion himself has confirmed that he is yet to sign a WWE contract, but since he has already appeared on live TV with WWE and has set up a match with Brock Lesnar, it's assumed that he should be putting pen to paper in the near future and this could be the reason that WWE has called for the press conference.

#3 Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez to be saved for WrestleMania

Will WWE save Lesnar vs Velasquez for WrestleMania 36?
Will WWE save Lesnar vs Velasquez for WrestleMania 36?

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer recently revealed that Cain Velasquez needs knee surgery, which is why he was forced to wear a knee brace on Friday night when he attacked Brock Lesnar on SmackDown.

Velasquez has already made it clear that he's coming for Brock Lesnar, a man who he has already beaten in the Octagon, but that doesn't mean that the match has to happen straight away. Knee surgery would sideline Velasquez for a number of months and wouldn't even guarantee that he would be recovered in time for WrestleMania 36, but it could be WWE's plan.

With the move over to FOX designed to allow WWE to gain "a real fight feel" WWE could have decided to treat this match like a real fight and a press conference is the way that boxing and MMA matches have been announced over the past few years.

This is easily the biggest crossover match that WWE has ever booked so saving it for WrestleMania could be their best option, rather than giving it away in a few weeks at Crown Jewel.

#2 Anything regarding the WWE Draft

Will this announcement be anything regarding the upcoming WWE Draft?
Will this announcement be anything regarding the upcoming WWE Draft?

The 2019 WWE Draft takes place from Friday night through until Monday as part of RAW and many big moves are expected to take place. There are a number of unanswered questions when it comes to the upcoming WWE Draft, including whether or not the likes of Ronda Rousey and Cain Velasquez will actually be part of it.

Velasquez hasn't officially signed a deal with WWE as of yet and Ronda Rousey is still on hiatus which is something that she opted for after she lost the RAW Women's Championship to Becky Lynch at WrestleMania back in April.

Rousey hasn't been heard from since and isn't expected to be part of the upcoming draft, but if Velasquez is announced as the newest member of the WWE roster then it could be revealed that he could be part of the WWE draft.

There are a number of other stars who are not expected to be part of the draft including The Undertaker and John Cena, because of their part-time status, but given the fact that this announcement is coming on the day of the draft, it's hard to imagine that there isn't a link in there somewhere.

#1 Braun Strowman vs Tyson Fury and Cain Velasquez vs Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel

Will WWE make more than one match announcement on Friday?
Will WWE make more than one match announcement on Friday?

Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar may be seen as the headline act after their confrontation last week on SmackDown, but both Braun Strowman and Tyson Fury will also be in Las Vegas on Friday and it appears that a match between those two men could also be announced.

Fury and Strowman closed this week's episode of Monday Night Raw and it appears that the new era that includes real fighters has gotten off to a good start. Many believe that this Friday's Press Conference has been called in order for the company to announce both matches and to determine when they will take place.

If Velasquez was to put off his knee surgery until November, then he could be facing Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in just three weeks time, whilst many believe that the plan all along is was for Strowman's showdown with Tyson Fury to take place in the Middle East.
